Social Network LinkedIn Now Has Over 45,000,000 Members
You may have heard of Facebook, MySpace and Twitter well pretty soon another social networking site may become part of your vocabulary.
LinkedIn is a “professional networking site that allows members to create business contacts, search for jobs, and find potential clients”. And as of last night has exceeded 45 million members.
It is estimated to be worth around 1 billion dollars.
The company was founded by Reid Hoffman but has gone through several CEO changes. LinkedIn has been profitable for the past two years.
LinkedIn is quickly becoming a company that many are looking to go public soon, most likely in 2010.
According to Crunch Base, competitors to LinkedIn include sites such as www.xing.com, Doostang and Ecademy.
LinkedIn has won two Webby awards in 2007 for services and social networking.
