Mind Over Matter

The headlines these days are, at the least, disturbing. Politics are politics, never seeming to be a productive forum. How can people throw away so very much time bickering and badgering about who's right and who's who, when they are all so very wrong to waste so much time on telling others how to live while they get it all wrong themselves? Mind over matter... Why can't those in power focus on what is important, and forego all the nonsense that they are churning through our minds?

Sex sells. This is a proven fact. It seems that if people aren't selling sex, they are buying sex, and those who don't have sense enough to sell it or are foolish enough to buy it are so busy begging for free sex in any form (cyber, information, discussions, photos) that they, too, fail to understand what the true values of life are. If you are someone who feels that sex is truly important, well, that's a personal opinion. Here I sit with the choice of blocking out all news, all people, and all interaction, or searching for ways to just ignore the way sex blasts itself across my vision. It's really irritating, truthfully, and offensive, to have it in my face no matter where I turn. Mind over matter.... What a struggle it is to be me and maintain my values when I see that the media and the world in general does not have better things to think of. Perhaps I should just forget who I am and focus on selling sex, but that's sure not an appealing thought for me.

Racism sure is a money-maker these days. Why? After all this time, after all this progress, after all these bills and laws and movements that have been put into place in the last century, why is it that race is even still a subject anywhere but in history class? Some feel that there is still work to be done, progress to be made, but I've learned that the only way to truly make progress is to put it all behind you and move forward. Put your mind above it, and it just doesn't matter at all. It really can be that simple, if you let it.

Things that are considered important to an individual are based on their own priorities, of course. I'm going to work to put the priorities of others behind me. It's high time this world developed beyond the scope of what was important, and into what does matter now. Mind over matter.... What really does matter to you?
