The 36th annual Ocean City White Marlin Tournament opened August 3rd. A mecca for Marlin fisherman the total payout for this 5 day tournament is $2,164,868.00. The largest Marlin caught was by Robert Ferris from Charlotte NC. Mr. Ferris landed a 1062 pound Blue Marllin in the boat No Problem from Fenwick Island DE. Mr. ferris fought the fish for over 3 hours on 80lb tackle. Mr. Ferris made $454,999 for that effort. Not a bad days fishing. There were 298 boats registered for this years tournment that ended Aug. 7th. The highest individual payout was $903,422 and was awared to Sean Healey from Prides Crossing MA for a 93.5 pound White Marlin caught on the Orion from Palm Beach Fla. Other big winners were Doug Salter from Chester MD with a 249lb Tuna, Jamie Gill from Crofton MD with a 254lb shark, John Green from Port Allen LA with a 47lb Wahoo and Ronald Bennet of Elkton MD with a 37.5 lb Dolphin.
