The sound bites just keep rolling in from town hall meetings all over the country of Americans shouting and angrily protesting the rush of a health care bill. And the sound bites keep rolling in from major news organizations as well, claiming that it’s a well organized right wing conspiracy against the Obama administration.
First of all, at what point did organizing a protest become a “Conspiracy"?
I don’t know if this some vast organized cross country movement or not and frankly I don’t care, But so what it if it is. Anyone remember the not so distant past when a certain presidential candidate admitted planting people in a crowd to ask specific question that were written out and rehearsed beforehand?
Second of all, at what point did disagreeing with a liberal viewpoint turn into a “Vast Right Wing Conspiracy”?
There was this thing awhile back where a bunch of people wouldn’t stop talking, and made all kinds of promises until we voted for them. And I know I remember reading somewhere that the ELECTED officials answer to their constituents no matter what their personal beliefs are, and not the other way around.
Which brings me to the last point, when was that last time you saw a politician afraid to go into a town hall meeting full of people that agree with them?
Rep. Tim bishop (D-N.Y.) recently suspended his town hall meetings because the crowds had gotten out of control. Peaceful discussion and protest are an inalienable American right, but when it falls on deaf ear what options do you have left? Ask around maybe you will find a great answer from old school Vietnam protestors.
An organized conspiracy or not, there is at least one thing for sure, Rep bishop and every other Politician out there WILL have to answer to their constituents eventually, no matter how long they hide from them.
