NEW GOVERNMENT PROGRAM - TURN YOUR NEIGHBOR IN

FISHY CLAIMS?

In an unprecedented move that has never been implemented by any of the previous 43 Presidents, the Obama administration is asking anyone with information about “fishy claims on the internet” or rumors about the President’s Healthcare plan, to send it to a White House E-mail address. In essence, the White House is asking your neighbor to squeal on you or me for being brave enough & having the guts to exercise our first amendment rights. The “Snitch Brigade” has not addressed the issue of what will be done with the names or information it collects or how long they will keep it. What you may have thought was off limits and private, will now be shared with the White House.

The move is undoubtedly being aimed at those that have been critical and voicing their concerns over the entire HealthCare Reform Issue and will allow the White House to collect personal information on those that oppose it.

ANGRY MOBS?

New polls continue to indicate that more and more Americans are concerned about how Healthcare Reform is being handled and don’t trust the government to run it. People have become angry & upset at the fact that none of their Congressional or Senatorial leaders have even taken the time to read the damn bill and yet insist on getting it passed before the end of September 2009. And so when people turn out at town hall meetings and show their frustrations, they are being villified and characterized as “angry mobs” by the State Run Media in an attempt to silence & belittle them. Instead of educating themselves by reading some of the 1018 page bill so they can inform their constituents and provide educated and cogent answers, they attack the innocent & concerned citizen that wants to voice opposition and demonstrate a little dissent.

Anyone recall how, after 9/11 -after we’d been attacked in NYC and DC- the Bush Administration said: “If you see anything suspicious, you ought to report it,” causing conniptions on the left? How dare the Bushies ask people to snitch for security reasons! Now, for mere policy, that has become an acceptable, “if you see/hear anything disobedient, be the tattletale

COWARDLY ACT

This in my opinion, shows a desperation and exposes how thinned skinned Obama really is. The man that made a name for himself as a Community Organizer and knows all about what it’s like to be out in the trenches fighting the causes of the lay person, is now trying to silence those that are doing the very same thing today – with the issue now being Healthcare Reform. But yet, you have the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Boxer insinuating that these protestors are merely angry extremists in the mold of Nazi’s looking to bring Obama down. This could not be further from the truth, as many who have attended these Town Hall meetings are your average moms and dads who love their country and are concerned citizens that want no part of ObamaCare and are trying to protect their children’s and grandchildren’s futures. The unprecedented move has worried one US Senator enough that he addressed the President directly with a forceful letter stating his dissatisfaction with the tactics.

THE NEW GESTAPO?

This informer program wreaks of Communism and Totalianarism. Now we may know what the intention of Obama’s Civilian Corps was meant to do – identify its enemies and crush dissent. Along with Acorn and the rest of the Brown Shirts in the administration, it looks like this is how business will be conducted whenever there is opposition. This is Chicago Style gutter like politics at its best. This is total disregard for the law, it is unconstitutional and you better have start to pay attention, because you may find yourself at Gitmo sharing a bed with your favorite Jihadist. This should not be a Right or Left Issue, this is a serious violation of all of our rights and anyone that owns a laptop should be concerned enough to pick up the phone and call their Congressmen & Senators. Everyone is at risk and I would not put anything past this administration.

I suggest that if the White House wants us to inform them of any "Disinformation", we should e-mail them a copy of the 1,018 page Healthcare Reform Bill. That's plenty of disinformation to keep them busy for a few months.

Of course the other option is to turn in every state representative, member of Congress, civic leader, and city council member... flood the system with ridiculous information.

We can do that as well. It just boggles the mind that this White House is so out of touch with Main Street given all the polling and concerns being voiced at some of these Town Meetings. People are starting to realize that this is not he Reform they were looking for. Most people have agreed to an extent to get something done for the 40-50 million people without insurance. No one wants the government to meddle in the business of those who are happy with their current plans.

It is great to see that someone else is in touch with reality. I am amazed at how short sighted most American's are and rely upon the media to feed them the information that is totally biased. Have things changed in Iraq? Haven't seen a front page report since Obama took office, yet the deaths and such seem to be the same. Snitching is wrong when Bush suggested it, but okay when Obama does? The healtcare reform that Clinton tried to push through was less intrusive than the Obama plan, yet it failed miserably, so why is this one looking like it may get pushed through? And if there is a universal healthcare, will the government be bailing out all the health insurance companies that will be broke?

mjfaure,

We can be smart and informed about alot of things, but it seems that when it comes to Politics, alot of people get brain lock. We can name last year's American Idol Final 12, but we can't name 12 Congressman or Senators. The DNC & Democratic partyt have done a better with their attack machine and have Obamatized millions along the way.
I don't think this administration will be throwing any life lines to any Private Insurer. The intent of the Public option of the Healthcare Plan that is being proposed is to usurp these private insurers and ultimately put them out of business so everyone has to go on the Government plan.

I saw this socialist coming a mile away. Like I have stated numerous times in the past... maybe America needs someone like this, to get "shit" together and take control.. As our economy worsens, the disparity between the rich and the poor is becoming enourmous, and with Socialism, things will start leveling out.. obviouisly.. This recent act of "intrusion," to peoples' freedom of speect is actually a "semi," good move and mjfaure actually touched upon why it might be a good move.... The American public are a bunch of idiots, and most often then not, have no clue what they are talking about.... Trust me, Obama has a plan, and although it might at first be a rough change for many of us (rich) ultimately, he will save our country.

He is trying to police the internet. He wants to change the constitution to make it so prisoners have no access to lawyers!! and his social health care plan!! I mean, dont get me wrong, I think America needs someone like him right now, but I am seeing a socialist in the making.
Reply By Changez Changez | 3 months ago
My point being, this is not socialism. This is fascism or totalitarianism. Some totalitarian societies in the past have used socialism as an economic model while others have used capitalism. Socialism is an economic model that promotes certain ideas as fundamental to economic growth and public welfare while capitalism promotes other methods of economic growth. Hence I say that confusing totalitarianism with socialism is a dangerous misconception.
Reply By mjfaure mjfaure | 3 months ago
Socialism destroys prosperity, punishes those who accomplish things, and gives to those who do nothing. Socialism will destroy our economy, our way of life, and will destroy America. We fought a long "Cold War" against Socialism/Communism, fought in two World Wars, Korea, and Vietnam to halt this danger, and now we want to embrace it? Most of us complain about paying 40% of our income to taxes, yet if socialism takes place, we will be upward of 60%, and possibly even more since our government is not very fiscally sound.

Teknowizard,

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. I understand regarding the Birthers. No matter who is in the White House, if they are doing a a bad job, we must all voice our concerns and let them know that we will be holding them accountable. I applaud your efforts for having the courage to meet your obligations as best as possible and not using your disability as an excuse. That is a lot more thna could be said for the many that are becoming addicted to government handouts. God Bless.

I'm not sure where you were after 2001 & 9/11, but Bush asked people to "turn their neighbors in" a long time before Barrack got into the office & furthermore many people that had issues with "The Patriot Act" because it had specific issues dealing with this aspect of the bill all by itself. I remember driving through Western Pennsylvania & stopping @ rest areas where there were big posters asking us to "turn our neighbors in". I did mention the incident you are talking about. The reason I mentioned it was to point out that the Liberal media treated the Protests you are referring to as civil and proper as I remember. But now that the shoe is on the other foot and the protesting is being carried out by Conservatives & Independents and in some cases Democrats, that same Liberal media is reporting the protesting as just a bunch of angry extremist trying to bring Obama down.
I am glad that people are voicing their disgust and disapproval of a Bill that is flawed in so many ways.
I have a problem with the way the media is reporting this and how they are bending over backwards to misrepresent the public. The 9/11 terror attacks represented an act of war, and I do think that as a security matter, it was appropriate at the time for the President to urge citizens to get involved. This situation with the White House urging people to turn in thse that oppose a pice of legislation is out of line and bordering on Marxism.

Is this a propaganda post? Has anyone ever received any information regarding the claimed owners of this site, the Silicon Valley Venture Capital Group? Since Obama handed out so much money to the telecom and tech fields, is it funded by federal grant monies and run by a non-American in order to promote most of the liberal spins and stories that are the most highly promoted on the site?

Does anyone know where this site gets the bulk of its funding, whether directly or indirectly, from the U.S. government - since it is clear there are a good many "government" for this country at last on it with some of the outrageous spins and denials especially with respect to the Bush and Obama Administrations, and the global socialist liberals from both mainstream political parties that have clearly now taken over Washington at this point.

Ross1776, You seem to have a problem with allvoices, as you continue to ask the same question over and over again regarding the funding of allvoices. For your information Venture Capitalists are private, they raise there money from private university endowments and private individuals, who have no influence on how the money is invested, they have nothing to do with the government. Let me give some other examples of companies that are funded by Venture capitalists: GOOGLE, YOUTUBE, MYSPACE, TWITTER, CISCO,DIGG, SUN, INTEL, ........
Reply By Ross1776 Ross1776 | 3 months ago
All those you named receive also government grant monies for research and development costs - or are you unaware of that? Literally all of the Silicon Valley telecom companies receive grant monies - just what do you think all that stimulus money was about, and the "science based" technology agenda that is the focus of this Administration?

Where are you from, not the U.S. obviously. Since the venture capital companies are merely "holding companies" and many of them hire lobbyists for their particular organizations for those research and development costs.

Are you really that naive, or simply spinning here again?

"READ HEALTH FORM HIGHLIGHTS HERE-The End of Choice" is the article I just wrote with well, the title says it all. I in fact got me dander up enough to raise blood pressure and a voice. We simply MUST prevent this from going through. If we all do this together, as free citizens of this country, it is THE ONLY HOPE we have to maintain our freedom. How many people have died for our freedom only to have our own government commit mutiny against the people it was trusted to serve and take it away from us completely. This is an outrage!
Posted By jongold jongold | 3 months ago
This article completely misstates what the administration is doing. They are not referring people for criminal or civil penalties. What they are trying to do is to correct misinformation so that our democracy can work properly on the basis of correct information.

Your claim that this is communism or totalitarianism is quite offensive as those people used force against those who did not conduct their lives according to arbitrary rules. Tonight in Tampa there was violence at a town hall meeting. You should comdemn those who are accepting false insurance company talking points and scaring seniors who like Medicare (which is, of course, a socialistic program like Social Security). Correcting misinformation is appropriate to make sure that Americans base their views on the truth. One of the falsehoods that is being spread is that the bills in Congress amount to "government-run health care". No one will be forced to sign up for the public option. If you fail to acknowledge this, you are being dishonest.

As for the public's opinion on health care reform, according to the latest Quinnipiac poll, 62 percent support the "public option"; to the latest Washington Post-ABC poll, 54 percent support a government-run alternative; according to Time, 56 percent support a "government-sponsored option"; according to NYT/CBS News, 66% support; according to the latest McClatchy, 56 percent say it is necessary to create a public health insurance plan; and NBC/Wall Street Journal, 46 percent favor a plan administered by the federal government.

Considering we have increased from 37 million to 48 million uninsured and the country's health care has gone from around $900 billion in cost to $2.2 trillion since 1993, we must do something about coverage and cost or our country will go broke, as GM did, from the unbelievably high costs of our health care. Obama was elected by a majority of the country to solve this problem among others. He has a responsiblity to clarify misinformation intended to scare people. Your comparison of that process to the use of police power against it people is not only false but it is incendiary and patently irresponsible.
Reply By Redhanded101 Redhanded101 | 3 months ago
jongold,

I will try and address as many of your counter points as possible.

If the administration had taken the time to read the Bill, there would not be a need to correct misinformation. What the administration is doing is "spinning" the information to fiy their agenda. The reason all this came about is simply becasue concerned Americans took the time to read and and get informed on their own and now that they are armed with the truth, the WH and the State Run Media is trying to spin it in their favor.

The Commnnist and Totalianarism rulers did use force, but they also employed The Nazi Youth Groups to tattletale on anyone badmouthing the Fuher. They had eyes and ears on the ground as well. It was not only force being used.

I am not getting into the credibility of any polls coming from NBC or CNN, those polls are always weighted to give them favorable results. The fact of the matter is, that most Americans do want Reform. They don't want any part of this public option because you have Congressman like Barney Frank who is on record as saying that the Public option is the way to get to a single payer nationalized system of medicine. Barack Obama is also on the record as stating his views about a single payer system. He is for it.

The 47 million uninsured is really a lie. Out of that number there are about 15 million or so that choose to be uninsured and spend their money elsewhere. They are people making over 75K a year, alot of them young and just don't feel the need to purchase insurance. Another 12-15 million are illegal immigrants and the rest are the poor and destitute types that really have no one to go. In the End, with this plan, it is estimated that about 36 million or so will still be left uninsured. so the net affect of the plan will be insuring 15 million at the cost of amout 1 trillion dollars over 10 years.

This idea of turning your neighbors in with questionable or fishy disinformation is ridiculous and just another scare tactic. They are treating people like Preschool children learning how to read. People are not that stupid. The American people do not want Social medicine. Why can't our legislators understand this?
The final point is, that when Liberal Protestors stand up against a Conservative issue, it is covered on the news as a civil and organized protest. Whenever the Conservative groups protest over the expansion of government and in this case, Healthcare, it is covered by the news as abunch of unruly angry extremists. Can you say Hypocrisy?

We chose the frying pan in the fire and it just means it's going to be a slower death with the pain and suffering prolonged. It's not about destiny here. It's about freedom. Read the article I just added and announced in my above commentary and judge for yourself what we are facing. I will fight for our freedom if anyone threatens the destiny of our freedom of choice.

I'm turning myself in, and also all those in Congress that are also spinning tales about this bill - since I have read some of what is included in it which was published on the web before it was taken off the government site. So since there are so many now on the mainstream media now giving their "versions" of it, yet then claiming that they haven't had a chance to read it, that tells you that they are just as clueless, and using this vacation merely to get some face time for their next runs for re-election and not at all concerned no matter how many of those bogus townhalls they are now attending.

It's the nature of politics. Lie till you are blue in the face, and don't forget to kiss the baby while you're at it.

Ok... I read the editorial; it's neither fair nor balanced, and while it does very accurately display the "other side", there's nothing new there, and it's clearly written with a strong spin to the left. Paul Krugman is a very liberal columnist, so it's to be expected; he's doing nothing but regurgitating the party line.

He does that very well. But I don't rely on Rush for my news anymore than I rely on Paul Krugman for an honest assessment of the economy. We must all do our own due diligence and research the information that is availible from all sources. Also, looking at the employee premiums and the employer premiums, it appears that if a minimum wage employee pays his own premium, it amounts to 1.3% of his gross income; if his employer is a "small employer" according to the plan, it may have to pay up to 6% of his wages, to provide exactly the same coverage. This thing is a real dog...
Reply By firesisle firesisle | 3 months ago
Absolutely not; I support a woman's right to free choice; I support Gay Rights initiatives; I support numerous environmental issues. I support an individual's right to collective bargaining. How're those for starters?

Here's a link to the bill:
http://energycommerce.house.gov/Press_111/20090714/aahca.pdf

If you do nothing but scroll down to page 136 and 137, and to the math, it's gonna be a train wreck.

Basically, a family of 3, living at the poverty level ($18,310) will pay a monthly premium of $20.29/month, and the program will pay for 97% with the patient paying 3%, with a cap at $5000 for an individual, and $10,000 for a family. I think this is beyond the means of many at the poverty level. It would work for basic medical, and doctor's visits, but hospitalization, from what I've been able to glean so far, would be at the same rate; probably better than what they have, but still, not what they need. If they're currently on medicare or medicaid, they will be exempt from any coverage for the first year of the plan.

If they're doing a little better than the poverty level, say $28,000(still not much for a family of 3) and you get a premium of $70/mo and only 93% is covered with the same $5000/$10,000 caps. Seems like a lot of money to me.

Now let's say they have a break out year, add another baby, they both get jobs, and raise their income to $44,000 (again, not that great for a family of 4). The premium goes to $183/mo and they're now responsible for 15% of the bills, again with the above caps.

Now look at a middle class family of 4 with an income of $88,000/yr. Their premium would be a whopping $806/mo and they'd be responsible for a full 30% of the bills, again, with the above caps. Remember these are all for a "basic" public option plan, and doesn't include dental, vision, etc. In any of these scenarios, if somebody needs a heart valve replacement, or major surgery, they're basically screwed. So far I haven't found any provisions for major medical care.

The costs become so prohibitive after that that it essentially stifles any chance of moving up the ladder.

I just think this is lousy legislation, and that we can do better for the less advantaged without selling out the American Dream.

about attacking establishments assuming they are would be terrorists yes
you must report them. Look what happened in Australia in the past week, if those five rats of Somalian origin kept their mouths shut and
not inform the newspapers about wanting to attack army establishments they may have succeeded but concerned citizenz have the right to report such anti social behavior if they suspect them to be attached to terror groups. They arrested and charged the whole five who are no more than just the scum of the earth that want to maim and kill decent
people who have not done them any harm. Even their relatives and the Muslim community en-masse are shocked to learn the truth. 8/8/2009.

mllorvic,

The "media that is poisining people's minds" is being funded in large part by the George Soros clan of leftist billionaires, union bosses (SEIU),partisan community organizers(ACORN) who are all pushing the socialized medicine agenda.

The public is not uninformed. The public is informed. That is why they are turning out at town halls and voicing their concerns. Our Politicians are the ones that don't seem to be informed becasue they don't want to take time out of their schedules to read the damn Bill.
To compare these average working Americans to thugs and Nazi's is ludicrous and just shows how disconnected this WHite House is with the American people. The disinformation that the WHite House is asking about is not about turning in people that are planning on making bombs. This is about scare tactics. They want to try and silence the people that are so opposed to this bill which a lot of people think is flawed.

MLLVORIC - THANK YOU!

There is quite a bit of difference between reporting acts that look like someone is hiding a bomb, purchasing explosives, practicing for the compiling of a militia etc.... than writing something the adminstration feels is "fishy."

The liberals went nuts when Bush did it and now...oh, it's just an attempt to real out the fishy "stories?" Bull. IT's MUCH worse this time - because main stream media is covering it like it is FLUFF. It's an invasion of privacy, a scare tactic, fear mongering, and an outright VIOLATION of freedom of speech.

This country is headed for a major meltdown if something doesn't change soon. We're on a course very similar to the course Chavez took in Venezeula. It may be a longer path than he had to go but it is exactly the same. He rolled out social program after social program to gain support of the poor and middle class and within a decade became a dictator.

People in this country say it won't happen - yet they say they don't read the bills (or can't find them) and don't call the people they elected to complain and don't write, and do not show up at meetings... they are fooling themselves. IT can and WILL happen if all the passive naysayers don't WAKE UP!

Thank you for helping me to find the entire House Bill online. I'm reading it, keep in mind I'm a slow reader.Perhaps the Senate will re-do the math on pages 136 and 137. Income of $88,000, those folks have health insurance and need not apply to the government. Poor folks need our help. The Bill is not perfect and perhaps the Senate will make it better. But, America does need some type of "Public Option." Thank you for your comments. [:-)

JerrySatire,

Why don't we compromise on this. Those that are currently uninsured can opt into the public option if they decide not to take Medicaid. The Rest of us that are happy with our insurance and doctors, get a 5,000 tax cedit. While we are at it, we can throw in Tort reform and I will call it day. Agree?

I'd agree with that one.

Has anyone read far enough to see what this opening statement means?

"111TH CONGRESS
1ST SESSION H. R. 3200
To provide affordable, quality health care for all Americans and reduce
the growth in health care spending, and for other purposes."

What 'other purposes'??
Just curious.

birdpond,

This is a very good observation on your part. The "other purposes" may include things such as creating incentives to attract more people into the Health Care Services employment sector & steamlining and automating the medical record keeping system. Of course there are other areas that will be addressed, but if our owm leaders don't know the answers, a lot of these "Others" can be open to interpretation.

Thanks Redhanded101. That may be right, but, I assume, it's still just speculation?

I hope when someone gets to that provision they can let us know the actual wording.
