American president Barack Obama and the us foreign secretary of state Hillary Clinton have urged African states to build strong institutions that would assure democracy, transparency and accountability. Their remarks were calculated to send a message of a need for good governance in the continent, in order to continue getting opportunities to trade with the superpower.
