And the remains are scattered throughout the remnants of once credible news agencies with acronyms such as NBC, CNN and Fox. It is impossible to turn on a news station anymore and see anything but partisan drivel accusing someone of something else and demanding responsibility for some random act of stupidity that probably has no basis in reality. Things have gotten so completely muttled up in the news world that Stephen Colbert and John Stewart could be considered valid outlets for news, and in some cases they are probably even a more credible source.
Case in point, a few weeks ago the president had a press conference in which he tried to convince the American people of the reasons behind his Push for health care legislation. Everyone who heard his speech can make up their own mind whether it was effective or not but if you did not hear it in person you are very much out of luck because the only thing on the news for the next 2 weeks were discussions on race relations and something about beer.
Since then however it appears the beer goggles have faded but the drunken aggression seems to be gaining steam like a frat house on Friday night. Fox news attacking the president and his policies, CNN raving about how the president was appealing to the people and how his remarkable plan would revolutionize the country as a whole, while MSNBC spent hours attacking Fox news, with a few customary pieces on how former Vice president Cheney is actually the devil.
While convincing us that he doesn’t exist may have been the devils greatest feat, I think right up there on the list was convincing us that the news is actually worth watching.
