I don't even know is it is appropriate to post poetry here, but I think the subject matter is relevant to both conflict and tragedy in this world.

I had a very special friend who died from this horrible illness and it broke my heart. It was at this time, I was motivated to write these words.

Tears and pain abundant, so much sorrow,

endless days with no hope for tomorrow.

People shake and quake in total fear,

each time one passes or simply comes near.

The world goes on, full of plans and construction,

amidst such pain and mass destruction.

Once strong and proud, world turned upside down,

each adorning a simple hospital gown.

Leper colonies lost in days of old,

history repeats or so I've been told.

Together they cling in support of each other,

each one so close, supporting his brother.

Hope for the future and all that it seems,

Lost now and forever except in their dreams.

Hospital monitors, chests heaving in Rhythm,

Each now lost in the Rainbow's Prism.

Hearts silently beg for one simple touch,

We cant infect that way, is it asking too much?

Agony and strife, overwhelming pain,

Doctors and medicine all fighting the game.

Life's promise to all has passed and died,

regardless what's said, they've been set aside.

Mother's and father's lay weeping, words not spoken,

life styles chosen, many hearts broken.

Life comes and goes in it's steady rhythm,

life now lost in the Rainbow's Prism.

These people are special, why can't you see,

they made mistakes, just like you and me.

Colors so beautiful in the Rainbow's Prism,

clad in disguise and deceit, tis a crystal prison.

Let us not smite or hold a grudge,

Only God can be the judge.

Pain and misery beyond all reason,

life will pass to another season.

Give them love and stress the hope,

share the courage to once again cope.
