Earlier today, 179 passengers were getting ready to return from their beautiful vacation in Brazil on Continental Airlines when the plane suddenly underwent severe and dangerous turbulence over the Atlantic Ocean that forced the plane to make an emergency landing in Miami. During the turbulence passengers reported a sudden drop at one point during the flight that sent people flying into the ceiling of the plane, resulting in 26 injuries, four of which were considered severe. Of the reported 179 passengers and flight crew on board, 13 were taken to local hospitals in Miami. Its important to note that this plane took off from the Rio airport in Brazil, which happens to also be the take off point of the Air France Flight 447 that crashed into the ocean killing all 228 people on board. These may be coincidence to some, but to me it appears as if perhaps the airport needs to come up with an alternative, safer flight route and avoid this wind tunnel that has claimed and come close to claiming hundreds of innocent passengers.
