Carver County Republicans host MN Gubernatorial Candidates at Fair this week Carver County Fair goers can meet Republican candidates running for Minnesota Governor at the Carver County Republicans fair booth Aug. 5-9 at the Carver County Fair in Waconia. The Carver County GOP hosts an annual booth at the fair, but this year has invited the gubernatorial candidates as part of the run-up to the county party’s Minnesota GOP Gubernatorial debate on Sept. 17. The public will have an opportunity to meet the candidates in person and ask their views on issues impacting the state and its taxpayers, schools, environment and more. Fair goers will also have an opportunity to play “Dunk Franken” at the Carver GOP’s dunk booth, featuring an actor wearing a Democrat Sen. Al Franken costume. They will have a say on who they would like to see the Carver County Republican Party endorse and work for in the 2010 and 2012 elections. Carver GOP will expand its endorsements beyond the federal and state for the first time this year to county, city and school races. Attendees to the fair can submit the questions they want to be asked during the September evening gubernatorial debate. The actual questions submitted during the fair will be used at the debate as time allows. All of the Republican gubernatorial candidates have said they would participate in the debate which begins at 7 p.m. at the Chaska High School, 545 Pioneer Trail. The venue for the debate was moved to Chaska this week from the Chanhassen High School because of a lack of space at the school Sept. 17. The Debate is open to the public by reservation to Amy Anderson at http://mailto:AAndersonPR@gmail.com . Invited to the fair are state Rep. Paul Kohls of Victoria who represents much of Carver County, former state Auditor Pat Anderson of Eagan, state Rep. and former Asst. Minority Leader Tom Emmer of Delano, former state Rep. Bill Haas of Champlain, state Sen. David Hann of Eden Prairie, state Rep. and former Minority Leader Marty Seifert of Marshall. Other lawmakers to look for at the GOP booth include state Sen. Julianne Ortman, state Rep. Joe Hoppe, Republican county commissioners and city and local Republican elected. The days and times of the appearances will be posted at the GOP fair booth. The Carver County Republicans are a grassroots organization elected for two year terms by the citizens and voters of Carver County. Carver County Republicans have not yet officially endorsed a candidate for governor. Carver County Republican delegates to the Minnesota Republican Party will join delegates statewide to cast a straw poll for Governor in October. -30-
