Humans of the earth have overfished their seas, yet the people that inhabit the earth still wanna eat lots of fishies. Some large companies think they may have found the answer Fish Farming. What countries will become the home of these farms remains the question.
A mutlinational company has its heart set on opening a Tuna farm in the Golfo Dulce in Costa Rica. The affects of such an operation on the local community and ecosystem will be profound, not to mention the cruelty of life it is to the fish that inhabit the Fish Farm Cages. The Fish farm cages have been proven to cause massive pollution problems in the form of Fecal matter, attect flesh eating sea lice, destory ecological tourism oppotunities, make a massive visual blight in the areas water, and cause impediments to the migitory habits of Sea turtles, dolphins and other marine animals to don´t recognize or comprehend thing like a countries exclusive economic fishing zone. These are animals that no one owns, but creatures of the world traveling freely between countries borders, and the massive open ocean which is shared by all the people of the world. The people of the area including Pavones and Punta Blanco have long voiced there displeasure with the idea of using their bay as a farm. The question that remains is will governments like that of Costa Rica respect the will of it´s people or bow to the power of money offered by the multi-national companyGranjas Atuneras S.A. What will be on your plate tonight?
