According to the newsletter from Best Friends animal shelter in Utah, the first of the Vick dogs has been adopted to a loving home. It has taken this to teach the dog to trust and to learn to enjoy life in the company of people and dogs again. I'm glad that the dogs are being given a second chance at life. It's interesting then that I'm not so willing to give Mr. Vick another chance. I love football and Mr. Vick has God given talent, but I have no desire to watch him on the field. Part of it is I think that every time I hear his name, my mind goes instantly to the amount of pain and suffering he caused to so many living creatures all in the name of money. And I also wonder about the difference in punishment. Another football player Donte Stallworth killed a person while driving drunk and got like 30 days. Maybe one was a preventable mistake while Mr. Vick was a calculated long term thing? I don't know.
