The Skill of Job Hunting

There is a skill to job hunting. If it was a skill which could be attached to a CV, the unemployed would quickly find themselves earning. But unfortunately, employers wouldn't accept this skill.

It is a skill of organisation, of being able to juggle more than one task, of understanding search engines, the Internet and email accounts.

It is a skill of rearranging your CV so it formats properly when you upload it to your profile on job hunting websites, resizing it when you can only attach a document below 200KB to an application and yet not losing out on any of the important information it contains.

It is a skill of typing fast and accurately, of bring able to edit and proof-read your work, of being able to use the English language to a high standard and of being able to use Microsoft Word and Outlook Express.

It is a skill of organising your time and work, of meeting deadlines and providing accurate and swift communication.

And it is a shame that the employers fail to notice that the very skills they require from an employee are in front of their noses, having been successfully used just by completing the application process.
