In a rare tribute to late King of Pop Michael Jackson, a Florida-based friend and his companions performed 'Karkidaka Vavu Bali,' ritual in the memory of Jackson on the shore of Bharatapuzha river in this district of Malappuram today.
Famed model and the late legend's fan George Ivan and friends flew from Santiago to perform the ritual, which could attain salvation to the departed soul, according to HINDU beliefs, at the river bank near Nava Mukunda (Lord Vishnu) temple here.
The ritual on the 14th day after the death of the Pop singer was performed under the guidance of 'Karmi' Gopakumar Elayath.
''Thilohoma'' ''Sayujya puja,'' were also peformed by the visitors.
The rituals were peformed as per the direction of Santiago-based Ashram Guru Siva Babu, a native of India. Ivan, associated with the ashram, had reportedly converted to Hinduism and adopted a Hindu name Ganesh.
