As several large European Clubs make their rounds in the United States to play friendlieswith American clubs and Spanish clubs, one particular match avoids a potential devastating fight between superstar and spectator. With David Beckham playing his first home match in Los Angeles since his stint with AC Milan, who else would the soccer God's match up with the Galaxy? of course...AC Milan!
With David Beckham facing his former Milan side, the world icon faced a hostile crowd in the Home Depot stadium. Beckham faced onslaught upon onslaught of booes and signs in which some read "Go Home Fraud" and "23:Repent". Beckham had a significant role in the match that ultimately ended in a 2-2 tie. However, the real news came at halftime when Beckham leaped over an advertising sign and made a signal to the fans in which one particular fan took exception leading the man to leave his seat, jumped down on to the pitch and charged Beckham. As the fan made his move at Beckham he was met with immediate force from security on the grounds and Beckham was instantly escorted back to the locker rooms.
After the match Beckham commented "It's expected. Sometimes it goes beyond it. The majority of the fans have been great." The outrage and sudden hatred for the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan star came recently when Beckham made it public once again that he wished to return to Italy and play with AC Milan instead of the LA Galaxy because the competition was much better over seas, Its interesting that Beckham would make this comment considering Beckham has played very poorly sense arriving in the States and that his ungodly contract isn't set to expire for another 3 years. American fans are now starting to understand that perhaps Beckham came to America simply to make a monster amount of money rather than try to help soccer popularity rise in America.
