Warm days, shiny cars and live music will all be part of Indian River’s 28th consecutive summer celebration.The event kicks off with a lobsterfest and pig roast 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, in Marina Park. Mike Ridley is the featured entertainment. Thursday features a family night beach bash 6-9 p.m. at DeVoe Public Beach. There will be games, as well as story time by Jonathan Rand.
A chili cook-off is scheduled noon-6 p.m. Friday in Marina Park. Eagle 101.5 will provide entertainment. Cooking begins at noon, with judging and tasting at 5:30 p.m. Cost is 50 cents per taste. Friday is a petting zoo and children’s activity area 1-6 p.m. in Marina Park. A cruise night kicks off at 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
Saturday starts with the Kiwanis 5K/10K fun run at 8 a.m.
There will be free airplane rides for children 8-17 from 9 a.m.-noon at the Indian River airport. Free boat rides run 10 a.m.-4 p.m. downtown.
The lighted boat parade is slated for 9:30 p.m. Saturday on the Indian River, beginning at DeVoe Public Beach, and the raffle drawing for the Yamaha Grizzly four-wheeler is at 10 p.m. in the tent.
Sunday begins with a VFW community breakfast 8 a.m.-noon at the Cochran-Roberts VFW Post No. 7439. The all-you-can-eat event is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children 12 years and younger.
The kayak-bike biathalon is 9-11 a.m. at DeVoe Public Beach. Register by calling the chamber. The Campbell Airport Y65 open house is 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Indian River Airport. Bi-plan rides will be available for a fee.
At 2 p.m. Sunday is the blessing of bikes and trykes for motorcycles and therapeutic tricycles.
