The European Parliament is expected to get a President and the name of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is doing the rounds although he has not declared his intentions. He would, in any case, be having the full backing of his Government. This would be a new post that would be created under the Lisbon treaty and is expected to streamline the functioning of the EU. If selected, Blair would be appointed by the Chiefs of the constituents of the EU. He would be the first and would occupy the chair for a minimum period of 30 months and maximum of five years.

You bet Tony Blair will become the first president of EU. He was chosen
by the world's leaders when they were trying to put the EU constitution through but sternly enough it failed to be approved. Britain is England and England is Europe so take it from there. 18/7/2009.

I believe Tony Blair has been rubbing elbows with too many US leaders. Sounds to me like he's "playing politics".
