    the young children
Nanthan and Chelsea died of food poisoning.

Two Young children Nathan 5 and Chelsea 7 ,died last month after they had eaten food from a take-away retaurant in Al Ghusais, according to Gulf News.

Their mother rushed them to MNC, a local hospital after everyone began vomitting.

The hospital released them after treatment .This action has been strongly condemned by observers as they feel it was not the right thing to have happened. It is argued that they should have been kept under observation and perhaps given a drip to remove the toxins from their bodies.

Later their condition became worse and Annie Sophie D'Souza the mother rushed them back to the hospital where 5 year old Nanthan died. The hospital authorities not being able to handle the case sent the older child Chelsea and the mother to Dubai Hospital where the young girl Chelsea expired. The parents are in a state of shock and until now the cause of death has not been known. The doctors concerned have not admitted their fault either.

Their autopsy has been done but no reason for cause of death has been released. It is however feared that there could have been an allergic reaction from the food they consumed that night.

The Dubai Municipality has traced the restaurant but no one else was reported to have had any complaints besides this particular family.

Hundreds of sympathisers have set up a page on' Face Book' called"May Nanthan and Chelsea D'Souza Rest In Peace".

They are beautiful children. Individual susceptibility to various bacteria can be highly unpredictable. Perhaps they will determine the answers when they have concluded the tests. I suppose they are certain it was not "food allergy" rather than "food poisoning"?

A similar incident happened in a school in Mabini, Bohol. A woman with a
food stall a few years ago used an empty plastic container from mosquito
poison to buy cooking oil in. Children started dropping off all over the
playing ground, she even poisoned her co partner but she didn't eat any of that food herself. When she saw the children dropping to the ground she ran for it because the poisoning was deliberate. She was nabbed by a
mob of children's parents threatening to kill her, they were going to rip
her apart but luckily she was arrested by the police. I monitored all the outcome of it day by day and the crazy woman pleaded not guilty but
the post mortems on kids that died showed there were Rakumin rat pellets also in the food. Crazy woman pleaded not guilty of mass murder
which is what it was because she had some kind of a plan. The oil bottle was forgotten about as evidence and they said the rat pellets may have got into the food accidentally. I took initiative by sending
an e~mail message to the Provincial government drawing his attention to
the mosquito poison BAYGON in its pure form. When they examined the oil
bottle and found Baygon chemical mixed with cooking oil the woman went
to jail for the rest of her life never to be released. Two of those dead kids were relatives of my wife. The old woman, co worker of the mass poisoner recovered in hospital and gave evidence in court. 16/7/2009.

A very sad story to be sure. Leads one to question what kind of doctors are not willing to take the responsibility or time to care fully for their patients. A susceptibility in the system, one feels, where doctors are liable for malpractice on every flimsy basis or where the costs of treatment are high and doctors like to get patients in and out quickly to maximise their earnings.

Hardly what one would expect in Dubai though. Let's wait to see if the mother decides to sue he hospital workers for their negligence, which seems pretty clear. We'll have to wait for a clearer picture to emerge.

Thanks Changez for your input and views. There have been cases in my life where a child has swolled excess cough syrup and pills.
The doctor first got his stomach washed to rid all poisonous material and then kept him under observation. In most cases a saline drip is also administered to save the body from dehydration.
