23 Taliban killed by Lashkar in Mohmand tribal region of Pakistan

At least 23 Taliban militants were killed in fighting between pro-government Lashkar of tribesmen and Taliban militants in Anbar tehsil of restive Mohmand Agency, sources told.

The clashes took place in Kohemore area of tehsil Ambar in the Mohmand tribal region, where the tribesmen Lashkar has launched a clearance drive against Local Taliban in the region.

"According to reports received here, a lashkar of Utman Khel tribe (traditional tribal militia) have killed 23 militants and have arrested 12 others. Three men of the Lashkar volunteers have also been disappeared." Assisstant political agent of Lower Mohmand, Rasool Khan, told this correspondent.

Taliban militants had kidnapped 16 volunteers of the Lashkar a few days before and had beheaded 3 of them after a fierce battle.
