According to espn.com, six of the top super middleweights will be involved in a round-robin style tournament set to begin on October 10th with a doubleheader involving titleholder Carl Froch of England (25-0, 20 KO's) fighting Andre Dirrell of the USA (18-0, 13 KO's) in England and middleweight champ Arthur Abraham of Germany (30-0, 24 KO's) will move up in weight to fight Jermain Taylor (28-3-1, 17 KO's) in Germany. The third fight in this tournament will occur on November 7th in the United States of America, the other titleholder, Mikkel Kessler of Denmark (41-1, 31 KO's) will make his long-awaited boxing debut on American soil against Andre Ward of the USA (19-0, 12 KO's). The remaining fights in the round-robin will be fought in 2010 to determine the semifinalists. The semifinals and the finals will be fought in 2011 to determine the undisputed super-middleweight champion after the retirement of Joe Calzaghe. This tournament will change the course of boxing because some boxers have been known in the past to dodge other fighters. Having a plethora of title belts in each weight division has led to fights not being made in the past because the champs would rather keep their belts instead of fighting each other to find out who is really the best. That is what this tournament is about: to find out who is the best. The announcement of this tournament will take place on Monday at Madison Square Garden.
