  • Iridium is the rarest among the rare elements on earth that attracts rice grains is much in demand all over the world.

HASSAN: It was a prize catch to Arasikere police. When they were interrogating other accused who were caught for selling tortoise revealed that one of their “colleague” is engaged in selling rice puller. The accused Jaffer Sadiq who is a computer hardware mechanic resident of Byrasandra Kaval Bangalore was arrested and the Laptop, copper vessel (rice puller) and magnetic circuit board are also seized.

Addressing press persons at Arasikere on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police Mr. K V Sharatchandra said that the accused had his own website where in he announced that he is in possession of DP rice puller and that interested may contact him and gave his email ID.

Mr. Sharatchandra said Iridium is the rarest among the rare elements on earth and it is believed that it attracts rice grains. Iridium is used in Satellite and atomic technology. It is highly valued in terms of Crores. NASA and DRDO like organizations are its users. There are some registered companies who are authorized to buy Iridium by paying high price.

Mr. Sharatchandra said that any copper material on earth if it is hit by lightening, it attains the property of Iridium and such copper vessel attracts rice grain. This scientific understanding is misutilized by attaching this to superstition that whoever owns such copper vessel would become millionaire or billionaire overnight. Rich persons to become more rich are in search of such vessels and some cheaters exploiting this greed of rich people and make duplicate rice pullers. They sell it for few lakhs and when it changes hand the price is multiplied.

Mr. Sharatchandra said that according to information available through website on Iridium, in India about 200 gram Iridium is available in Kerala. Jaffer had prepared duplicate copper rice puller by making use of electrical circuit and magnet put below a cardboard on which rice grains are made to move in zig zag direction towards copper vessel – misleading that copper vessel attracts rice. He made demonstration and the CDs were uploaded through his website.

Jaffer confessed to police that he prepared the vessel about 3 months ago and was in contact with licensed dealers who were dealing with Iridium. Police have taken up detailed investigation. EOM.
