Perhaps Sarah Palin has found a way to speak directly to the people of this country. Hello, Facebook! A mere day after her shocking resignation speech, she posts on Facebook a possible hint to her future.
Palin's spokeswoman, Meghan Stapleton, verifies that Palin wrote the statement on her official Facebook page:
"I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint.
"How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it's about country," the statement said. "And though it's honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make."
Tell me, is Palin suggesting she is following a "higher calling" in resigning her position as the Governor of Alaska? What might that higher calling be? Possibly $100,000 per event speaking engagements; a Senate seat; or presidential aspirations? Perhaps Ms. Palin is just going to return to small town Alaska, raise her children (and grandchild) in relative obscurity. That, in itself, would be the highest calling for this woman who has had her 15 minutes of fame.
Something tells me Sarah's not going to leave the spotlight.
