Sarah Palin

Perhaps Sarah Palin has found a way to speak directly to the people of this country. Hello, Facebook! A mere day after her shocking resignation speech, she posts on Facebook a possible hint to her future.

Palin's spokeswoman, Meghan Stapleton, verifies that Palin wrote the statement on her official Facebook page:

"I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint.

"How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it's about country," the statement said. "And though it's honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make."

Tell me, is Palin suggesting she is following a "higher calling" in resigning her position as the Governor of Alaska? What might that higher calling be? Possibly $100,000 per event speaking engagements; a Senate seat; or presidential aspirations? Perhaps Ms. Palin is just going to return to small town Alaska, raise her children (and grandchild) in relative obscurity. That, in itself, would be the highest calling for this woman who has had her 15 minutes of fame.

Something tells me Sarah's not going to leave the spotlight.

At least she is as pretty as she is stupid! And that is the very nicest thing I can think of to say.

I have never mentioned that she isn't pretty - and I don't believe she is totally stupid. Perhaps "distracted" and "unfocused" would be better descriptive words. She does have the (misguided) notion that she can "changed the world" - Good luck on that one, Sarah.

I agree she's not going to leave the spotlight, because we won't let her.

Even without being "covered" I believe she has had enough of the "thrill" - she will continue LONG after she fades from being a "media darling".

I still contend that she is stupid! Note to Sarah; You can NOT see Russia from your porch, Africa is a CONTINENT not a country and you will NEVER be in the White House unless invited as a guest. Oh, and not all "Joe Sixpacks" think your comments are cute!

OK, well you do have point there RLHHoof... and unfortunately, I can add other comments she has made. I will defer to you on this one.

I'm not sure I would refer to her as a "media darling". I suppose she might have been the darling of conservative politics for a short while. But it didn't seem to last very long.

As to her higher calling? I know what that phrase usually seems to refer to, but in this case, I'm kind of left wondering what she actually may have meant when she said that. If she herself effectively made the call, then it wasn't a higher calling in the strictest sense of the meaning of that phrase.

I think she's always talked in riddles, though, and that makes it very difficult to figure her out. I think that's one reason why she attracts so much unwanted attention to herself.

She never seems to understand that her every word, the way she dresses - everything she does and says will be scrutinized when she steps on the stage. She's always surprised by the reaction she gets. But I don't think she really should be.

I think she probably has honorable intentions in mind for the most part. She's just not politically savvy and really needs more grooming and training if she's really serious about staying in the political limelight.

I think she has ulterior motives that include big dreams - she will either make it or fall on her face.

One of the biggest problem she has with her speaking: NO ONE knows what she means when she speaks - not Republican, not Democrats, no one.

If anything, that may be her biggest liability (that and not understanding anything she discusses)!

I think her career in politics, or shall we say "15 Minutes of Fame", is long gone. However, I can see her trying to pick up her own talk show...albeit, we would all need an interpreter!!!

I will give her one point - she has figured out how to stay in the spotlight - even if she looks incompetent as she does. I suppose there are things "stranger than this" to come...

Thanks for stopping by!

There is no doubt she has game plan. Trust me, this isn't about hanging out and home, baking brownies and apple pie. Time shall tell!

Oh, you are a wise observer! Anyone who thinks she did this to "spent more time at home" has their head stuck in the ground!

Nice to see you!
