Alaskan Governor Sarah PalinSarah Palin has announced that she will not run for reelection and because of this she didn't want to wait around for her term to end. Her term as governor...
She said things like she wanted to take her fight in a new direction, which I found vague, that she wanted to show her independence, and she said she wanted to do what's right for Alaska. She made a point of saying that she wanted to fight for her state, but that doesn't seem to be what she's doing. I read her speech, I just had trouble pinpointing a solid reason (one which her actions weren't contradicting).
i agree mr. orange something is not being said in this case there may be something going on behind the seen and she wants to be out of there quick! what ever it is the peices arent fallin as they should.
A boon for the Alaskan Wolf population it seems. There must be more reasons for her to resign including wanting to run for President at some time in the future. She has a lot of work to do if that's the case and preparing now is a good way to get a head start. I don't think she'd make a good president in the least, but that is something that remains to be seen.
I think she will be more of an asset to the party as the 2010 elections roll around. She is still considered among the top three presidential hopefuls in 2012, and besides she is still young.Barack Obama was a US Senator for no more than 2 years before he bolted to run for President. In Politics you never know, I assume the left is jumping for joy, but I would not count her out under any circumstance.
I just think it's an odd career choice, if she does want to stay in politics, to decide not to finish her term. She's abandoning her supporters. If she runs for president how will she answer the question "what if you decide not to run for reelection, will you quit and leave the presidency to someone the people didn't elect?" If she was serious about politics, it seems to me like sticking out her term is the best course of action. Maybe her supporters don't find this as odd as I do.
I do not think she will run for President - I think she's had enough and Idon't blame her.
I think she's going to rake in the bucks speaking...She's great a rallying a crowd - and people in the pro-life circle love her. Maybe the rest of the world isn't ready for her, but some are and she'll make mint speaking to those people and if she makes a gazillion dollars - MAYBE it might have been worth a portion of the blood bath the media gave her.
Enough with the wolves - it started before her, and it will certainly continue beyond her.
Mr. orange ... it hasn't been cheap - the State has wasted THOUSANDS of hours of YOUR time and shelled out some two million of YOUR dollars to respond to "opposition research" - that's money NOT going to fund teachers or troopers - or safer roads. And this political absurdity, the "politics of personal destruction" ... Todd and I are looking at more than half a million dollars in legal bills in order to set the record straight. And what about the people who offer up these silly accusations? It doesn't cost them a dime so they're not going to stop draining public resources - spending other peoples' money in their game.
I doubt it, I looked at the picture closely and it looks fake.
I agree with your assessment of her possible future. She'll likely be a political speaker, but not necessarily a candidate. As for her reasons, I guess I understand, I just find it cowardly for her to duck out like this. It didn't seem so clear when she resigned. And why are they paying so much to set the record straight? Why can't she just let things go and do her job? She just wants to dwell on things others have said to the point where she doesn't want to play any more. I just find this whole turn of events pretty bizarre.
If she wants tor resign, let her. She has her reasons and it doesn't seem cowardly or anything like that. It might just be that she doesn't want to anymore in which case I'd say it's a brave decision. I have nothing against Palin and won't dislike her for doing what she wants. If she has another political game in my mind, good luck to her. She might have made it more difficult for herself but time will tell.

It tells me she is a quitter who puts her own agenda ahead of the task at hand in which she was elected to do. Why would I ever ask her do do anything again knowing she may quit?
You have to stop with the double standards. Didn't Barack Obama essentially do the same thing after he promised that he would serve out his full term as Senator of Illinois? Didn't he get paid the full 18 months while he was out campaigning instead of doing the peoples work? Is he a quitter? What about Janet Napolitano? Or Kathleen Sebelius? Didn't she leave her Governorship for a spot on the Obama Cabinet? This woman can do no right..The left complains that she isn't a good politician or that she is inexperienced but when she decides to resign, these same idiots are out there complaining about how she is a quitter, how she left her state down and so on. If she is such a bad politician, wouldn't it make sense then to celebrate her resignation? When it comes to Politics, there are a lot of people with their heads up their asses and without a clue.
they quit to serve their country at a higher level....she did not quit to run and the election is not for how many years...she could have served as governor and then ran if those are her intentions but she did not say why as Obama did. Some one said that women are her worst critics...we have womens tuition and have learned to trust it...
Hey Meg - I have women's INtuition so please do not speak for me. You've got an issue with Sarah Palin and that's fine - but don't call it women's intuition when it clearly is NOT.
As for the rest of the crew - They didn't quit - any of them - let's correct those little facts. Obama and Biden BOTH collected their Senator's salary while they were on the campaign trail and were NO SHOWS in their jobs.
Speaking of which - Michelle Obama did the same thing collecting 67k for NO SHOWING in her position during the campaign as well.
and...Biden and Obama will both collect their Senator's salaries for LIFE, on top of what they are paid as President and Vice President.

Mr. Orange - I beg to differ... I heard her reasons for resigning...she clearly stated them in her speech today.

Sounds pretty darn clear to me.
