According to CNN.com in a recent report the unemployment rate in this country has risen to 9.5%. Which seems to raise the question what exactly has the massive Government Economic stimulus accomplished?

"Today's employment report reminds us that spending, taxing, and borrowing with reckless abandon is no way to create more jobs, yet that is exactly what Democrats in charge of Washington have done all year long," House Minority Leader John Boehner said in a statement. "Middle-class families and small businesses are hurting, and they're looking to Washington for real solutions that won't raise their taxes and drive future generations into even deeper debt."

Based on these comments we can assume that the GOP is willing to forget that this entire debacle started with former Republican President George W Bush.

What this number also seems to prove is the government cannot and really should not be in the business of trying to stimulate the economy. The leaders of our nation must let the folks who run the private enterprises fix things for themselves. While that may mean short term pain, it most likely will bring about long term security.
