The 70s may be over but the land down under is keeping its sound alive. Wolfmother will join the Guitar Hero series for a second time this September and plan to release a new album.
Fans of Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath will love this Australian band. While reminiscent of hard rock’s golden age, Wolfmother’s sound shows where the evolution of rock should have gone had it not been for the digression known as 80s glam.
The guys have performed live on the Late Show with David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Their music has been featured in Spider Man 3, The Hangover, Entourage, and House M.D.
Hailing from Sydney, the original line up came together in 2000. On vocals and guitar was Andrew Stockdale, 22. Chris Ross played the bass and keyboard; and drummer Myles Heskett, 31, completed the group.
They broke onto the ARIA charts with their self-titled debut album in 2005.
In 2007 the single “Woman” earned Wolfmother their first Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance.
Heskett and Ross left the following year; the group now consists of Stockdale, guitarist Aidan Nemeth, bassist and keyboardist Ian Peres, and drummer Dave Atkins.
The band will debut their latest single “Back Round” on Guitar Hero 5. However, those who register at http://gh5.guitarhero.com can download it for free now. Their new album Cosmic Egg, which comes out in October, will also feature the song.
