Angola seeks cooperation with China, Malawi

Syrte — The cooperation relations between Angola, Malawi and China were discussed on Tuesday in Sirte by foreign affairs ministers(Libya).

Angolan Foreign Affairs minister, Assunção dos Anjos met Chinese assistant minister of foreign affairs, Zhai Jun.

On the same day, the head of Angolan diplomacy met with Malawi's minister of Foreign Affair, Eta Elizabeth Banda, with whom he discussed matters of bilateral interest.

During the meeting, held in light to the 15th ordinary session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU), were also discussed international issues such as the new world economic order, international peace and security and the reform process of the United Nations Security Council.

Assunção dos Anjos is since late Sunday in Sirtes, where is attending the 15th ordinary session of the executive committee, which is preparing the 13th AU Summit of Heads of States and Government, to take place on Wednesday.

Malawi has been dubbed the one of fastest growing economies in the world and economic growth in the tiny southern African country is poised to grow above 7.8 percent in 2009 with new sales of Uranium poised to start during the year.

Malawi is also southern Africa's lead producer of tobacco and maize-the staple food in the region.

Last year Malawi sold over 100,000 metric tons of maize to food starved Zimbabwe.
