Though the investigation is far from complete, medical examiner Dr. Michael Baden has determined that kung fu actor David Carradine died as a result of asphyxiation. Baden was hired by the Carradine family to perform a private autopsy on the actor following his death in a Bangkok hotel room on June 4.
Baden ruled out suicide, which was given as the original cause of death by Thai authorities, due to the position of the body at the time of death. Reports had stated that Carradine’s hands were tied behind his back; in fact, the hands were tied above his head.
Baden stated that whether Carradine died as a result of autoerotic asphyxiation or homicide has yet to be determined. There are still unanswered questions that require further investigation. Baden hopes to have those answers in another week.
Plans for a funeral and burial have yet to be planned or announced.
