Socialism creeping in to our country

I knew our new presedent was a bit of a socialist when he came out with the health care idea that we should take in with everyone getting health care when they can not afford it. Well if I wanted to live in a socialist country I would move to ireland or canada to live. There are already fingers in the government that are in state run programs that dictate to us what we have to pay and how we have to live. I am not sure but it sounds like to me that our free country is slowly developing in to a socialist country.
When I lived in canada I was not in controle of my money the government was, I had to pay taxes for health I had to pay for Dental Insurance, I had to pay for auto insurance, licences and tags, much like hear but I did not have a say how much I had to pay nor did I have a say when there was an increase and I could not even have a say in when it would be taken. from my pay. the places I worked would just take it. As deductions. well I don't like not haveing a say in the way I spend my money. Has any one noticed that we are slowly becoming that way in the united states?

I am like any other guy that likes to have guns, I like to hunt. I like to have a say how my money is being spent. well with the new gov, I am seeing that soon I will not have a say in what I spend my money.

the fact of socialism, Obomma, will turn us in to a socialistic country. His entenions are noble but really it all about the controle the government has.

I served in the armed forces for 16 years, when Obomma came to power I got out, I could not vow to serve him and protect him. I don't belive I want to live in a socialist country and I think we need to protect our way of living and send him a message to fix the problems and not be a problem.

We can fix the health care by lowering the amout haveing to pay for it but still keep it where we have a say in how we but it and live with it. Indepencence, not socialism.

well that is all I wrote this so I could have some feed back or am I the only one that feels this way?

I am a student of age, I went back to school to get a degree. I am a retired vet at 44 years and have fought in two wars. I am a disabled vet that has seen much in my life. I have traveled around the world seen many places. watched the different countries, to that witness Iam glad I live in America. land of the free, not in a comminust country, and not in a dictatorship one not even in a socialist one but that seems to be changing and I don't like it.

well love ya all, people that is.

later for now David Weber

Maybe you've never read any John Maynard Keynes... the dictation here is that pure capitalism, like pure socialism is an erroneous ideal. Obama is not suggesting a purely socialist format, what he is suggesting to implement is a system that is a balance of free market, but with a slight of hand by the government. Markets may be self regulating to a certain extent, but a market is also self serving, hence government intervention.

What's wrong with socialism? It seems to work fine in lots of places, unless you think money is the most all important thing in life.

Among the industrialzed countries in the world, only South Africa & the US do not have National Health Care. Not one country has given up on National Health Care, not one! Shame on South Africa & shame on us!

If you like socialism then move to a different country, Obomma seems to use the slight of hand trying to change the way we live,Socialism with the controle gives no freedom. Just watch and see what happens in the future. I think we could lower rates for qualifying people but to have the government controle in health care is the first step to becomming a socialist country. The individuals that think its ok, well we can blame it on youth and ingnorance. The land of the free, and there is too much government involvement as there is to how we live.
but watch and see,it will sneek in and catch us.

Change the way you live? What a cluster f*** answer. The reality is that a lot of people won't live if they don't get health care. Neither pure capitalism or pure socialism work, nor do they even exist on Earth today. Government regulation is necessary, whether you like it or not... simple economics man.

the only reason it is necessary is because we make it that way dont you see the only reason half the problems that arise move on to us is becuase we put all of our trust and values upon someone else we dont need politician to tell us how to live maybe its time for a new way of life and i think im not the only one that thinks so.

sooo jerry you must be a socialist or democrat, It makes all kinds to make the world go around, lolo It seems you voted for the new prez? well just wait and see, canada started like our country and it is now a socialist country. It started with the reform of health care, then went to insurance for vehicles, then went to firearm controle. well what do you get,? socialism. so if you want socialism move to canada, lolo they would love you. How many rights do you need to have taken away before you get socialiam. The independent doctors in canada after fighting for years to be independent finally can make money. It took them years of fighting to become independent, so they can have the life they wanted by being a high paid doctor. so we have that in the us now and for all the education and time becoming a doctor, the ones in the us have become independently wealthy. that is the us way. independence which you will celebrate on the 4th of july. That is freedom not socialism. we all have our thoughts and it would seem you need to move to canada to enjoy the controle you want to relinquish to the government.

I think you are confused between socialism and totalitarianism, or at least you are confusing your evils. Decades of propaganda have made the American people think that socialism is the greatest evil in the world; in Soviet Russia the problem was not a socialist economy but a totalitarian government instituted by a man who wanted to maintain control on all the levers of power. But with legislation like the Patriot act, constant surveillance and the apparent power of the state, the US is also fast becoming a controlled society, if not a wholly totalitarian one. Socialism is simply, simply, about caring for the poor. In that way it puts public good before wealth. But that aside, how is it freedom to be able to choose from the best doctors when you cannot afford any of them in a state geared towards maintaining wealth in a few hands. One would think that the loss of freedom encompassed by acts like the Patriot act are far more disturbing than a health-care plan that takes a certain amount of money out your paycheck, but guarantees treatment if you get ill.

Not only is your article poorly reasoned, demonstrating that you are woefully ignorant of political and economic theory, but at 44 years of age I expect a person to know how to write at least at an 8th grade level. I would start to question my own beliefs and begin to agree that there is truth in the anti-socialist argument given that the US educational system obviously and disastrously failed you, however, I went to public school and managed to acquire basic writing and thinking skills. Likewise, the "socialist" countries you (so erroneously) identify have an even more "socialized" and equitable education system, and they seem to produce high school graduates that are far more intellectually prepared when compared to us in the US. It seems unfair for you to except us to give your ideas any real credence when you can't even manage to compile them in a coherent and grammatical way.

Look, I know I've been off "allvoices" for a while... but f***. Seriously. Socialism, democracracy... fucking Communism for Christ Sake. As long as it works; and if you can make it work more power to you. But the simple, obvious truth is that what we are doing now is not working, and it is time to change, no matter anyone's ego or pride.
