2K Sports’ basketball game NBA 2K9 has sold 2 million copies, and in honor of that milestone, Take-Two will release a special edition of 2K10 in North America this fall.
NBA 2K10: Anniversary Edition will have numerous other goodies in it besides the game; there will be a McFarlane Toys figurine and a poster of the LA Lakers’ Kobe Bryant, and a retrospective video covering 10 years of the NBA 2K franchise and the athletes that have been featured on its cover, all packaged into a “sports locker” which players can use to store their games.
Only 30,000 copies of the limited-edition package will be made available, individually numbered for authenticity. Ten of those 30,000 will have an autographed fine print of Bryant done by artist Shephard Fairey’s Studio Number One.
People who buy the Anniversary Edition will be entitled to special online perks on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, like the ability to go to “The Gold Room”, an online lobby where they can play the game with celebrities and VIP members.
2K's sports development senior VP Greg Thomas said, “We’ve always been very proud of how we engage our fans on a community level, and NBA 2K10: Anniversary Edition is our way of giving back to all those that have supported us along the way.”
