Lalu hits at BJP, Hindu organizations in the wake of Liberhan report

Patna. Rashtriya Janta Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Tuesday reiterated his party stand by saying that BJP leader Lal Krishna Adwani and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh were real culprits in the demolition of Babri Mosque at Ayodhya on December 6,1992.

Speaking to media at his residence here following the handing over of the report by retired Justice M S Liberhan to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Delhi, Lalu alleged that Adwani and Kalyan were the leading force in pulling down the mosque and it (the incident) was seen by the people world over.

“Notwithstanding the report there is not an iota of doubt in it that Adwani ji, the leader of opposition in the Parliament, and Kalyan Singh had their hands in damaging the structure of the mosque which later triggered widespread riots and created fissures between the two communities,” said Lalu.

He, however, said that he was yet to study the details of the report but expected that once the Prime Minister would table it on the floor of the Parliament things would come out in the public domain for the scrutiny of the involvement of BJP leaders and its associates including Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal and ABVP.

When he was recalled that Kalyan was now very much part of his Fourth Front which he had struck with Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, Lalu pooh-poohed it and said that it was not a matter worth to be considered that he was with the front.

He said anything like Fourth Front was never in existence.

“It is a well-known fact that Babri mosque demolition had been the genesis of communal tension of recent years in the country and fundamental Hindu organizations have been involved in it which discredited country’s name in the world,” he asserted.

For Lalu, the report has come at a time when the state is steadily gearing up to go to the Assembly poll next year and he has all his reasons to fire salvo at Nitish Kumar led NDA government.

“Now, it is up to Nitish and Sharad Yadav to clear their position as how they would articulate their stand while keeping alliance with the BJP,” remarked Lalu.

He said that infamous Bhagalpur riot in the state was a prelude of the Babri mosque demolition when Adwani had carried out shila-pujan in Bihar.

In all likelihood, close on the heels of the report, it is expected that the upcoming and very first session of the Parliament of the 15 th Lok Sabha would see the political brinkmanship in its new avatar.
