Andy Murray admitted he was surprised by the decision to play his fourth-round match against Stanislas Wawrinka under the Centre Court roof.
Murray won 2-6 6-3 6-3 5-7 6-3 in just under four hours, with the 2238 BST finish time Wimbledon's latest ever.
And he found the "heavy" conditions tricky as they became the first players to play a whole match under the roof.
"It was dry when we were warming up outside and I was expecting to play without the roof," said Murray.
"Then it came and I'd never played a grass-court match indoors before and it made a difference."
By the time the match began, the earlier rain shower that had seen Dinara Safina and Amelie Mauresmo finish their match under the roof had passed.
