Congressman Conyers, No Longer The Sharpest Knife in The Shed.

As the old saying goes, timing is everything. And so it was Congressman John ConyersJohn Conyers (D)Michigan, turn to add his name to the list of those who have escaped close scrutiny for his incompetency as a result of the attention that was given to the vote on ACES (American Clean Energy & Security Act of 2009) this past Friday June 26th.

WHO IS INVOLVED: Detroit City Councilwoman Monica Conyers, also wife of aforementioned Congressman John Conyers.

WHAT DID THEY DO? : Johns wife Monica Conyers, 44, was supposedly taking cash bribes in return for giving her blessings to a sludge contract with Synagro Technologies in Houston Texas. As expected, once she was caught with her hands in the cookie jar, she,pleaded guilty in federal court Friday. Friday June 26th was also the date that the House of Representatives was fleecing US Taxpayers by ramming thru the now troubled American Clean Energy & Security Act of 2009. Under a normal news cycle, this would have been a major embarrassment to the Congressman who currently chairs the House Judiciary Committee and had his own investigation by the Ethics Committee in 2007.

WHAT WENT WRONG: Sometime in 2007, Monica accepted two envelopes containing cash from Synagro officials for her support of multi-million dollar a year sludge contract. With her vote now secure, the Detroit city Council voted 5-4 in favor of awarding Synagro the contract.

WHAT’S BEING DONE: Apparently Monica Conyers is still on the City Council. If she decides not to resign, she cannot be removed from her seat until she is actually sentenced for committing a felony. If convicted, she faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Now on to Mr. Conyers and his recent lack of judgement and ineptness. His wife being indicted in Federal Court on bribery charges begs the question, what did he know about this? And secondly, if he did know anything about his wife’s business, why didn’t he speak up. Thirdly, his decision to drop plans to hold hearings on accusations the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now (ACORN) has committed crimes ranging from voter fraud to a mob-style "protection" racket. Mr Conyers claims that the “Powers that be” decided against it. Why the turnabout and the free pass to this Liberal Activist Group that has already been accused of voter fraud registration in as many as 12 different states? Who is now telling Mr. Conyers how to run his committee? Could it be Princess Pelosi, the White House or Mr. Obama himself? Shouldn’t Mr. Conyers have an obligation to provide information on who may be blocking information and why? If Mr. Conyers cannot perform his duties nor has the capacity to fulfill the requirements as Chair of House Judiciary Committee, then he should resign. This is the same Congressman Conyers that wanted to move forward with articles of impeachment against President George BushGeorge Bush claiming that the President could not invade Iraq without the approval of Congress. This guy was also meddling in the affairs of Major League Baseball and it’s problem with steroid use. Why spend millions on taxpayer dollars to ask a bunch of juiced up baseball players what they knew about steroids and if they ever used them? We all know they used them. I think the Congressman is a little out of touch and should respectfully step down from his post because it is obvious that the only person in Congress right now calling all the shots is Princess Pelosi. We all know that with the 2010 elections right around the corner, ACORN will be out in force registering as many bogus Democratic voters as possible knowing that John Conyers, Princess Pelosi, Eric Holder and Obama himself, will simply look the other way. With all due respect Mr. Conyers, do us all a favor and resign. You are no longer the sharpest knife in the shed.
