This story is interesting on an internationally political level. I never thought about how a person could plead his native country for amnesty and support. I'm confused as to the details of the case though -- as in, why is he sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia if he's a Canadian and why is he linking Canada to his "role in the death of a man"?

Anyhow, I think that this man's brazeness in his letter might cost him. If he wants the government to help him, perhaps he should petition for the help rather than blaming them from their "alleged inaction". I don't know - it's just my opinion that if you want help, you shouldn't offend the person who can offer it to you.

Canada does not have the "Death Penalty". As a Citizen this person has
the right to be returned to his country to fulfill a life sentence..if
applicable. Our Federal Court has already come down on our Prime Minister for ignoring the plea of another prisoner in America facing the same demise.

It is seeking help indeed but could pass as blaming because the guy seems to have made the wrong choice of words.

The case relates to an alleged killing in Al-Ruwais District in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia after school hours on the street. The school in question is "Al- Maharat International School". The accused is not a student of that school. He was there to pickup his female cousin and saw someone hitting on her, got emotional and a fight broke off. In the fight a man got killed because of brain damage after he got hit with a baseball bat on his head.

This is what I know of the case.

And as usual, intelligent questions from now aquamarina217. But unfortunately am seeing you after a long gap!

If he's actually responsible for a murder, isn't he liable to face prosecution in the country where he committed the crime. The Canadian government can petition the Saudi government presumably, but even then if they decide to refuse I think it is their prerogative. What if the kid had been a member of the royal family? There is no way they'd let him leave

Hell..If he was a member of the "Royal Family" They'd probably let him chop another man's head off..wouldn't they?. It was T.E. Lawrence said
"Take NO Prisoners" at Aquaba..was it not?. We taught the Bedouin too
well. GO back to Stealing goats..slitting throats and riding camels.
The Road to Mecca is paved with Blood...and now today..OIL!

ROYAL FAMILY MY ASS! The 7 Pillars of Wisdom have eroded into F-18's
and offshore tankers & Mercedes Benz!

And 18 Saudis flying planes into the heart of America. BASTARDS!

    Good Morning..and NOT Vietnam!

MURDER? The Saudis are pretty fickle to talk of Murder. 18 of them bastards drove planes into the heart of America..didn't they?
Perhaps T.E. Lawrence taught the "Royal Family" too well at Aquaba!
Yeah sure.."Take no Prisoners" sounds real good on the Big Screen BUT
the path to Mercy & Mecca these days ain't found in Mens Heart's BUT
instead in Gold-plated Rolls Royces driving thru an air-conditioned
desert paved with F-18s, Oil Tankers and OPEC! GONE is the Mercy of Allah with the goats & camels and Bedouin tents of a day long past!
Reality rears its Ugly head with torture in the desert and MegaOilbucks screaming mad Injustice. You WILL notice they hate the
"Socialist" dictator of Venezula..but lick the boots of Oil=Rich Saudi
    Princes. SCREW JUSTICE HUH?..Money & Oil don't Talk..It Swears!!

I was talking about the guy he killed.

Was he "connected"? If the "PERP" was a Canuck he deserves extradition
back to his home country and then perhaps prison. Hammaribi's code leaves you
with nothing but a country filled with armless, toothless bitter old men
scrabbling for scraps like dogs in the street. IMHO
