Running to catch the very last ferry from San Francisco to Marin, I heard Michael Jackson's music playing from a distance and stumbled upon a crowd of fans memorializing the pop superstar. Young and old alike gathered at San Francisco's Embarcadero in front of the landmark Ferry Building, to celebrate Michael Jackson's life and mourn his untimely death today at age 50.

I pulled my iPhone out of my back pocket, snapped a photo, and thanks to the power of Allvoices I am able to instantly bring this "happening as we speak" Michael Jackson memorial to my fellow Allvoices community members and Michael Jackson fans all around the world--from my local community to yours. Very cool!

Long before the white glove and his trademark Moonwalk, I have fond memories of a young Michael Jackson and then frontman for the Jackson 5 pop/R&B group introduced on the Ed Sullivan show, and Thriller was my favorite Michael Jackson album and his greatest accomplishment, in my opinion, with its unique blend of rock, pop, R&B, and soul.

Rest in Peace, Michael Jackson--your music, your style, and your memory will live on forever.

msherf, It was serendipity to bump into this happenstance that honored Michael Jackson's life and grieved for his early exit. I, too, watched the Jackson 5 on T.V., when talented Michael--the kid--donned his original nose.

oh, wow, lemon, Jacko with the Big El? Gee, think we could get them together for a photo-shoot? National Geographic would pay a mint for those shots, I bet.

Oh, wait, did I write 'National Geographic'? I meant 'National ENQUIRER'!

Darn, I keep getting those two mixed up!

I used to be a fan years ago. Like most music - I pretty much got tired of it and moved on to something different. I get bored with the same musicians. Very nicely written article! - Kelly
