Its only been a couple of hours since his passing and I'm already being flooded with txts, and emails even phone calls about the tragedy of it all, and some religious types saying "you never know when you're going to go", frankly i think its 20 years too late for the man. But that would be a harsh thing to say, especially about someone who has just died, especially for someone considered a genius legend, with unparallelled talent and skill...
Or was he just like anyone of us, but in the right place and the right time, thanks to circumstance, bias, and the way the world works...we're all special, or so we're told, well most of us anyway by our parents, or teachers, and some of us are labelled the opposite, accidents and worthless beings, but there's still something special about that...the fact that you're alive...
His music changed the world, he broke records, sold out arenas and over sold albums and singles and created videos and dances people to this day cant get enough of mimicking, or taking "inspiration from", he may or may not have also touched little boys and their pre-pubescent little friends.
A close friend of mine has been trying to convince me for 12 years that M.J is a genius and should be recognised for his accomplishments and work, and no one can ever take that away from him, and i agree to the extent that he is a genius who should be recognised for his accomplishments and work and for his interest in little children and disturbing manner in which he regards life and the concept of childhood, and fatherhood, and his own children and other peoples children and his moral values, the way he uses his public appeal like such a overgrown, de-tanned diva...
You may feel this is an evil, unnecessary rant about a man who has just died, just for me to feel like part of the hater crowd, its not, i respect the man for doing what he did for charity, and to an extent i can understand he wanted to relive a childhood he never had or to bring joy to children, is that not what every parent wants?
But why did the world elevate him to such a position, a godly, untouchable, who could only be brought down by accusations of the lowest, seediest, dirtiest crime, such a sinful, despicable act, still not 100% proved whether truth or not, but why did it take such a scandalous issue to bring him down, and thrust him down into the pits of fame hell, to bring him to madness and add fuel to his already smouldering state of self destruction...
Now in death his morals and actions as wrong as they were will be forgotten by most, it will be the core of all M.J related jokes and that social taboo only broken in trusting crowds, but his work, it will exceed his already so loco imagination, the sales, the structure of organised madness, the sadness and tears, the mourning, there may even be deaths, it wont surprise me for people to go this far into following their idol into the afterlife not knowing what they will find, but still ready to venture off into the depths of death itself for the sake of a man who merely entertained and perhaps inspired a fraction of their being and existence on earth...
Would it be ironic to start a charity under the M.J title for the poverty stricken, homeless and orphaned children of the world, to give them some joy in their childhoods, the basic joys that most children in loving, sustainable families enjoy?
I may be the most uninformed fellow on the planet if this charity is already in existence, and he helmed it, sorry to say i don't know and i refuse to research.
My plea to people would be focus less on his music legend, his single glittery glove wearing, his crotch grabbing, his awkward public demeanor, his amusing and disturbing spectacle as a father, his financial crisis, his plastic face, his grave site, his materialistic being, to place in the back of our minds his pointless dancing, and his spectacular feminine vocal talents...
I say focus on his little ideology of bringing joy to children, sponsor an orphan, give what you can help the homeless, the war torn children of the world, the hungry and the needy children of the world, make him a legend in that one light, and perhaps his soul will rest in peace, sell M.J affiliated merchandise for the betterment of mankind, and its future.
As much as I'm not a fan, or have little entertainment value respect, and dislike his existence when he was around, i can take what i hated most about M.J, and use it as a positive energy, and say well perhaps he lost his way as the majority of celebrities and idols do, but his ambition to help children to make a loving difference in their lives was a good one, it was a cause worthy in believing in...
So i say lets remember the legend of Michael Jackson, by doing that little bit more for the worlds children, as well as our own...
Peace.
