According to BBCNews, the Airbus has officially produced its first Chinese-made plane. It was unveiled at a ceremony in Tianjin.
BBC Beijing correspondent said Airbus hopes its Chinese factory will give it a big advantage over US rival Boeing. Airbus is the first of the world's big-two aircraft-makers to have a full production facility in the country, as it aims to meet fast-growing Chinese demand for commercial aircraft...this will be interesting to see, European and Chinese cooperation.
Airbus Tuesday delivered the first A320 aircraft assembled in China to Dragon Aviation Leasing. Sichuan Airlines will operate the jet, painted with a red dragon on its body. It will start flying commercially to Beijing from Wednesday. The airline will deploy the aircraft on the Beijing, Shanghai and Taipei routes.
The A320 final assembly line in Tianjin will roll out 10 more aircrafts this year and the jets will be delivered to Hainan Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines and China Eastern Airlines.
China is now the world's second-largest market for commercial aircraft, and is expected to buy up to 2,800 passenger planes over the next 20 years.
