The Good Story

Vietnam. This incredible place. It has also been the playground for the Cold War. Yet I think this video sent by a friend to me tells an incredible, very human and comforting story. It is one of those videos that creates hope for the future.

With all the events going on around the world now and maybe in particular Tehran, Iran, it is important to stay focused on the end goal. It is important to raise the vision and look beyond the immediate obstacles and issues.

To quote someone close to me: "What the world needs now is hope."

Beautiful! Very touching! I wish that before drawing daggers against each other, we would just think of the other person as a human being with emotions just like ours.... Thanks for sharing, eriks.

I do think it is so important to stay focused on what is good in this world. We have to resolve our issues, and obstacles, but ultimately we have to think of where we want to go and that is the good parts. It also helps us smile... :-)

thanks eriks for sharing with us that short but complete doc video portraying what we have been trying to learn all along...asking for forgiveness and the act of forgiving!

So true! I have always claimed that to go on the offensive is easier than to admit your role and part of the problem. Blaming others is easy, forgiving is freaking hard. I would say that forgiving is such a sweet feeling. For me that is the most constructive and true path to ourselves towards the future. Why? Well. Forgiveness for me is to look ahead and not in the past.

We can change the future, but not the past.

All valid points. An excellent piece but it is very important not to ignore the past. It is true that to not be cognizant of the past will doom one to repeat it. We learn from our mistakes, take them to heart, remember them so as not to make those mistakes again. Being successfully human requires 360 degrees of vision. Hope comes from knowledge that others before us have overcome the worst of situations. We draw on those triumphs and forge forward ourselves. Thanks for the uplifting post.

wow. Awesome post - I think I'll share this with people that I know who no longer see the brutality of war, but call it some sort of strange "justice". Beautiful piece, thank you for posting.
