The Mayor of Folsom St.: Larry Schultz

In light of Mayor Gavin NewsomGavin Newsom's recent failures to serve his city, citzens search within their communities to find a strong and Charismatic leader. For the past 20 years Larry Schultz has worked as a leader, confidant, and teacher in the San Francisco community. The owner of It's Yoga studio, Schultz has worked tirelessly on folsom street since 1989, bringing the magical ashtanga yoga of India to students of all levels, and body types. Schultz is responsible for creating the Rocket sequence, a lively and upbeat routine compiling poses from 1st and second series with plenty of core work and inversions. It's yoga is the oldest yoga studio in the West, and one of the few places in the world where one can see such dynamic and enthusiastic practioners.

Larry has taught over nine thousand classes and has influenced hundreds of teachers across the globe. His teachings have reached crowds as diverse as the Grateful Dead of the Rockin Roll world, the computer geniuses of Silicon Valley, the 49ers, financeers, scientists, artists, students, and entertainers. He has facilitated the opening of twelve studios and is expanding internationally.

The current financial climate has forced Schultz to move It's Yoga further down on to folsom street, to the corner of fifth and folsom. however his loyal students keep on showing up to recieve his energy, his knowledge, and his love.

Mayor Schultz is far more than a yoga instructor or even and entreprenuer. He is a repsected public figure, a mentor and the bad man of ashtanga. He's brought light, love and ashtanga to San Franciscans for 20 years on Folsom. SO much love goes on at It's Yoga, that Schultz often refers to the studio as "Loveshack yoga." The love is only a further testimant not just to the power of yoga, but to Schultz's incredibly sly matchmaking tendancies.

To conclude, in today's turmoil society, we are presented with one corrupt politian after another. But rather than let the government bring us down, we must look within our community to find our own leaders, our mayors, our own gurus. THe Mayor of Folsom street refreshes my jaded outlook on life and politics. larry shultz reminds me that the key to building society and community is not through strife and corruption, but love and ashtanga yoga.
