She was blowing hot and had her opponent Anna-Lena Groenefeld, the 24-year-old German on the mat in the first round match at Wimbledon. Then Sania Mirza, the effervescent Indian 23-year-old suddenly went cold in the second round and was found to be all at sea trying to come to terms with her rival's shots.
The first two rounds' scores illustrate this fact only too well. While the first round went in Sania's favour at 6-2 she lost the second round to Anna 2-6. One wondered what could be behind Sania's see-saw form that alternated between scintillating tennis and her abject struggle.
Then one saw her taking a break and leaving the court for a while before the start of the third and final set. Where did Sania go? As it transpired later she had taken a bio-break. And then as if it was natural, her game was back and Sania was back to her pounding self - winning the third set 6-2 and wrapping up the match in 1 hr 51 minutes.
Dunno if there's a connection but if it's a coincidence, it's such a compelling coincidence ...
