The claim is made that Ahmadinejad stole the election, because the outcome was declared too soon after the polls closed for all the votes to have been counted. However, Mousavi declared...
This is a damn good article, which lays out what many people believe. I myself am not totally sure, even though many people I know are, and this sells like what you are talking about to high heaven. As a journalist, my instincts tell me there is something very true about what you are saying. The evidence, particularly of Paul Craig Roberts is very well used.
However I also think that there is at the core of this, a certain amount of legitimacy which will show in time.
A fact that rarely gets mentioned but which should be brought to the fore is that under what law does the US have the right to pursue covert operations inside any country for whatever reason, especially destabilising the government, if the country is hostile to U.S. interests. That is what is at the core of this issue.
In the end, if some or much of these protests are being orchestrated, then it is the protesters themselves that are the victims, However, I feel that despite this, some good will come of these events. Maybe the regime needed a wake up call.
Brilliant work, cj. Kudos on bringing out the hidden American interest. I don't know why Obama is pretending to 'Yawn' to all that is happening in Iran (check the pic I'm posting) to get the drift!
Citizenjournal, this is a very interesting report. I am simply skeptical of the Mainstream Media coverage...of Twitter. Now I have some more reasons to withhold my judgment about the situation in Iran. Thanks!
This is a well written, well backed up article. I can't say I completely buy it, but I certainly believe parts of it. If this is true, we haven't progressed an inch from the 70's and the snafu's the CIA created in South America. Progress ("Change") is like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I believe it's there, but we'll have to rope down a rainbow to get to it. Changez makes a great point: The US has no right to pursue covert operations in any other country at all. But that gets swept under the rug.
I don't know about Mousavi being an American puppet and stooge because he wouldn't have run for elections just because US or any other power told him to run. People want reform and they need a president to listen to them not the other way around and they will get it in one way or another regardless of them being killed. In all these autocratic countries, there was always loss of life on both sides, but the people always have the last say. 25/6/2009.
