Please Sign This Petition

This is the link to Dr Howard Deans organization gathering signatures for a public option as a check on the greed and disregard of the private insurance companies. Please sign this petition and pass it on. It will not change your insurance coverage if you're happy with it. But for those who cannot get insurance or afford it or if you've been denied treatment by your insurance company, this is an option. Without it we are at the mercy of the big insurance companies.

Thank you
Peggy

A better option might be to petition "Dr Dean" to persuaded his buddies in the American Trial Lawyers Association to support reducing malpractice awards, which are one of the biggest contributors to the cost of health care today.

I have no problems with a publicly funded, but privately run group health program, with a sliding schedule of charges for coverage, but a purely public health system isn't really viable, because there isn't any sufficient available funding.

I've always pursued jobs where health benefits were a part of the package, even if I made less money, because I put a premium on medical coverage. I've been in the job market for about 40 years and have managed to maintain coverage for most of that period.

I'm nothing special; I don't have a college degree; any special skills were developed after I got a particular job, not before; I have medical coverage. I've maintained it for most of 40 years. For much of that period, I've paid for it.

If you want something for nothing, move to Canada where they have public health care. Just remember the a lot of Canadians cross the border into the US for really serious problems because they're not really dealt with well up north.

Don't expect me to be happy if you ask me to pay for my own families coverage and your families as well.

Oh.. and "Dr. Dean" gets his coverage free, as well as a large stipend for the rest of his life, and hasn't contributed to Social Security since he was elected to Congress.
