What a spurious article of made-up claims and suppositions. Obama is being the perfect statesman by not meddling in the family quarrels of other nations. The Iranian people are already petrified that we will invade or bomb them, and that is most of what is fueling their current rebellion. If we get involved, the Iranian government will pretend they're fighting United States influence as a reason to suppress their people. If we stay out of it, the world will watch and their actions will be tried in the public eye. Obama is a whole lot smarter than whoever wrote this article. Why on earth would we want to continue fomenting the strife and unrest we have encouraged the last eight years? Because it had such good results? Time for a change in the way we view the world. Other countries follow our example, not our dictates.

Actually, I FULLY agree with you Shari- Although we cannot INVADE Iran - and their process will take its toll on its citizens - OBAMA has a place to come out with a STRONG voice against the SUPREME leader and his President. Obama needs to BACK OFF IRAN - they are no friend of ours.

Obama HAS ridden the coat tails of others into the white house and he is on a really high horse because of it. He seems to forget that oppression and intimidation of SUPREME LEADERS lead to the American Revloution - (or he did not learn that in his vast education)

Obama has an obligation as the leader of the United States - built on the fundementals of freedom - TO DENOUCE the murder of students in Iran and protestors for what is a dishonest and fixed election.

If we were in Iran's shoes .. there were no fare elections and our "president" was a communist fascist dictator who decided it would be okay for us to be shot by our police officers...wouldn't we want someone (maybe england or france or germany .. heck even canada) to help us out by joining together and taking out our president by force... if you say no.. Please help to stop the torture of people in Democratic Europe!
Law enforcement officers, primarily police and security guards, have the ability to arrest people, especially dark-skinned people, in the name of law, regardless of their guilt. They can escort these people to a room, such as a dressing room, a vehicle or another place without public views nor security cameras. There they can beat, torture or even sexually assault these people.
When victims of such cases try to stand up for their rights and seek justice, the guilty officers have the excuse: violent resistance to the law; thus it is their duty to deal with them. Law enforcement often censor such cases so society never hears about them from the media. There have been numerous cases all over the Democratic and Humanitarian Europe (for more information 120–cases) contact Mr. Juan Fonseca, chief of Discrimination bureau in Stockholm and former member of Swedish Parliament (Cell # +46 733421988) or Amnesty International’s EU Office. Some cases are covered by the media; for example, in Swedish Channel 4 News showed a video taken with a mobile phone where European police officers are seen torturing refugees in “torture rooms.” In Stockholm, a central police station had pictures of non-Caucasian officers with “SS” written on them. There are many other similar cases happening, possibly now as you are reading this letter, and the guilty parties suffer no consequences. If this type of violence committed by law enforcement isn’t stopped, victims will continue to be damaged not just physically but mentally. This type of behaviour may result in even more violence when victims want to release their anger and aggression for this injustice. There have been numerous cases in France, Sweden and other countries where people have obtained weapons for shooting, explosions, and so on. There are even more cases in the US and around the world available online as evidence to back up this proposal in order to end these kinds of barbarian behaviors
A possible solution to stop this type of violence would be to require all law enforcement officers to carry a small digital video camera (with a few GBs of memory), attach it to their uniforms, and require them to tape their actions on duty. It is not an expensive technology when you compare it to the costs of court when dishonourable officers are sued by their victims. The cameras should be encrypted and not able to be stopped or viewed by officers. The footage should be collected from all officers and archived daily, when they finish their working day.
There should also be cameras placed in all law enforcement premises and officers should not be allowed to take arrested people to any "blind" places. Law enforcement communication should be recorded 24 hours a day by a higher level law enforcement unit. This unit should consist of a diverse group of people from as many different nationalities and races available in that country. The recorded materials should be publicly available for use in court.

I sincerely hope that you will kindly consider this matter not only as President but as someone who deeply cares about humanity. I hope you will further this idea by talking to your colleagues around the world because it would have positive effects for every country. The next generation would remember you not only as the 44th President but as someone who has done good for the entire world, making big changes for justice and human rights by stopping racism and discrimination all over the world.

What a spin! And no one has even questioned why most of those signs which are being carried are written in English? It would appear that these demonstrations are being done for the English speaking countries, wouldn't it appear? And all those interviewed speaking fluent English in most respects.

The President doesn't even run that country, as a Muslim country the religious leaders do. And this has been in order to ratchet up the temperature of the American people in order that we beg Obama and America to intervene, so that at least those in Washington can claim that it was the people then who expanded again the Middle East War.

hey changez i have a suggestion for you.....consider becoming a bit more educated before u begin foaming at the mouth on this forum about issues you are completely and utterly oblivious about.....and in response to your ignorant question, "what is he supposed to do?", he is supposed to lead the United States of America in an admirable and upstanding way, and that means that he should stand by the oppressed people of Iran who have suffered dearly for what they believe in. This election was rigged, and everyone is conscious of that. Obama is clueless when it comes to leading a nation. He is the most liberal president we have ever had; hence, he's the antithesis of the great President Reagan. Bottom line, Obama is worthless, and you are arrogant. Good day.

Sort of like the rigged Bush election here, right? It appears you might get educated. Both parties have merged, or hadn't you noticed? Clinton and McCain are of like mind on Iran, and all of this is a display for the West to become involved. And who runs our media, by and large? Look that up, and maybe you might start questions rather than believing everything you hear and see in the media these days.

okay.. so this is obviously an issue we're all passionate about.. but where does our common ground come in? Do we all believe that the Iranian people deserve the same freedoms we have? Or do we truly stand on two different sides of the aisle... and think that they've made their bed and they therefore have to sleep in it?

Everyone deserves dignity and freedom of speech! No one deserves to be shut off from the world, beaten, tortured, frightened, murdered, coerced, etc.

To you Mr. Ross1776: If you have watched any of the videos you'd know not all the signs were in english .. and also I think it's important to point out that Iran isn't some remote island that's never had other human contact. Iran is one of the most advanced nations on the planet. Just because the women don't walk around in hotpants and a halter top, or the men are devout muslims, doesn't mean they don't speak english, or don't know how to use a cell phone or chat on facebook.

I think we all need to not only pray for the Iranian people, but pray that our country has the strength and courage to stand up to Iran's leaders and demand that they allow the UN (usually worthless) into the country to oversee a recount. If the 'supreme ruler' really did win fair and square then what is he so afraid of?

Perhaps members of both parties do share views on military action. Perhaps it is difficult to figure out who's really in charge. So isn't it that much more important for us to join together and put our differences aside in order to speak for those whose voices cannot be heard?

We are the UNITED states of America ... and I for one am grateful for the men and women who serve and protect our rights and sacrifice to protect our neighbors abroad as well!

Coming from across the Atlantic all I can say is WOW the people of the USA sure could teach us South Africans a lot on how to express our feelings about our leaders and such, instead we tend to sit back and do nothing except complain to our families.

About 50% of us don't vote and you want us to tell other countries what they should do? How about getting a tad more than 50% of the America people to vote before we tell other countries what they should do? Diplomacy, not bombs, is the key to world peace. If we can trade with Russia, China and Vietnam, we can at least talk with Iran. America can destroy Iran & North Korea 7 days a week, they cannot do that to us.
