    Iran's so called Religious Right
Iran's so called Religious Right!

The so called "Supreme Leader" who sounded like Hitler to me has already circled the wagons. He has already proved to me that Iran's nuclear program is not purely for peaceful purposes. Their ultimate goal is in fact to develop nuclear weapons to be used on Israel who they want obliterated and Britain and the US who they simply want destroyed. His militant speech was only interrupted by shouts of death to America, death to Britain, death to Israel.

Iran is on a collision course! Khamenei promises a violent crack down and the blood will be on the oppositions hands. The opposition Mousavi promises defiance and the blood will be on the so called Religious Leaders hands. Khomeini's speech was a call to arms. It was chilling watching that. To set this building violence even more a leader of the Revolutionary guard has joined the opposition.

After listening to Khamenei bad mouth the west and watching the throngs of hard liners and secret police and sanctioned state killers waving their fists and shouting death to America I would say forget about and talks of compromise and Diplomacy with Iran unless Mousavi and his followers are somehow victorious and I am afraid I have my doubts. Khamenei is not interested in talk. I thought Ahmadinejad was bad. This guy will have his way period and use the Holy Koran to have it.

Khamenei is a dangerous man! He will fight, kill, force, have it his way period in order to keep the 1979 Revolution alive. All communications in Iran have been shut down with the exception of official Iranian TV! They announced that one of the two protests planned for today were called off. Activists are very angry. Anyone brave or foolish enough to go out in the street now is definitely taking their life in their hand.

Khamenei said there is no room for debate and it appears now that this is a military style coupe. To me the election was stolen to keep the revolution going as the people wanted Democracy and it is final. Iran is still very much divided if not more so because of Khomeini's lies. Like you I am waiting and watching! Despite Mousavi's demand that they be released increasingly arrests even more. They continue to crack down and take as many protesters and leaders off the streets as possible.

Two of the activist leaders including Mousavi did not show to the Guardian Council meeting called by the so called Supreme Leader. This in itself is unprecedented! We have to officially stay shut up. We will only add fuel to the states military crack down. Khamenei said he will meet violence with violence! Some Religious leader Khamenei is. For 20 years this former 1979 Revolutionary has been in control of Iran. He is no Ayatollah but a tyrant!

Khamenei is the most powerful man in Iran. Still there are those trying to kill him. His arm is still useless because of a failed attempt on his life with explosives planted in a tape recorder. This killer will never give up! His millions of Revolutionary killers will be out in force with their clubs, chains, and weapons.

I understand some protesters holding Koran's will be coming out. The theory is that it is illegal to harm anyone holding a Koran. That will not stop Khomeini's rabid killers as the the true meaning of the Koran means nothing to them. The people and the Koran take a back seat to Khamenei, the Revolutionary guard, and Khomeini's desire for total control to keep the 1979 Revolution alive.

This is a remarkable event we are watching! We are in fact witnessing Iran's version of China's Tiananmen Square. God only knows what will happen next! Will the "true" Religious leaders turn on Khamenei and Ahmadinejad? They must if the Koran really means anything to them and the people! Iran promises another bad joke recounting 10% of the ballots. That is no concession. That means they will recount 4 million ballots. By the standard set in the first so called count that means it should take about 15 minutes. Wait watch and Listen!

'The Holy Quran'is the most SACRED book of the Muslims. It's no ordinary book to be taken around. It is considered sinful to make it an object of display just for the sake of swearing by it or carrying it around to prove a point.

"Their ultimate goal is in fact to develop nuclear weapons to be used on Israel who they want obliterated and Britain and the US who they simply want destroyed" - doesn't this conflict slightly with what was in the NIE for the last two years and what the IAEA has said of Iran's nuclear ambitions. You'd think a little more concrete evidence would be required than a gut feeling.

Khamenei is supreme leader for a reason. He is a very respected and acknowledged spiritual and religious authority. His position in Iran may wield considerable influence, but it is not without limitations nor is it without checks, institutional and traditional.

Sort of like the Queen, his role is of necessity curtailed by political considerations and the nature of his position. He is Supreme Spiritual Leader and he can't afford to get his hands dirty on every issue.

He is expected to act as intermediary and negotiator between factions and that is where his power lies. The different groups respect his authority.

On principle I think it is right that people get out when they feel wronged. However, looking at it in such black and white terms reduces a complex political situation to right and wrong in certain American or 'Western' (hate that word) terms that are not really applicable to a very different culture.

It is hardly surprising that Khamenei is Anti-America since America is anti-Iran. Until the time both parties reach a workable solution on bilateral interaction, any interference will be deemed a threat to Iran's sovereignty.

What exactly happened in Iran is something we will find out. Till then making blanket assumptions about the tyrannical nature of the regime is counter-productive.

Hi Fauzia! The Koran is Holy that is why many are angry. Khamenei has lied an defamed it to control the people and continue the Revolution. I heard much today I am putting together for tomorrow but one guy said this is the 2nd Revolution to get rid of the first one. It has failed us and we will not fail you Iran. What is next is not good I think but they will persevere!

Hi Changez
It does conflict with what IAEA said but they also said they can't be sure. After Khamenei's speech you can be sure. All I heard was contempt and vile. That was not the demeanor of a Religious leader but a dictator. He is peeved. He was in the 1979 Revolution and was using the Holy Koran to control the people and continue the Revolution. He screwed up this time. I think you saw what I said to Fauzia but one guy said thid is the 2nd Revolution to replace the first one that failed us. We will do it right this time and we will not fail you Iran!

You make the mistake of thinking that the Iranian people are stupid. They are very far from it. Persians are very well educated, erudite and intelligent people. Controlling them with religion is not as easy as it seems.

The revolution by which Khmoeini, Khamenei's predecessor, became the chief, was a complex affair, which combined hundreds of political parties and groups. Khomeini's ascent to power was a result of his unflinching and unafraid defiance (when he was arrested) and his cunning political manipulation, by which he managed to eliminate or sideline most of the secular opposition.

Now the politics are very dangerous. There is a report here on all voices, from the BBC, which points to splits within the establishment, hinting that the popular movement could be a reflection of certain upper echelon conflicts, partially explaining the restrained use of force so far.

Again, I think Ahmedinejad would have won anyway, but it is possible that his friends made sure of the fact. However, it is also possible that he has enemies, who are trying to destabilise his government, for their own ends, regardless of what people feel. People are pawns. Persian history is replete with devious political games.

Alternative interpretations should always receive attention. And while you may think the first revolution a failure (I will call it that though it seems to be the same one) for many Iranis it was not. It provided many with education, health care and food, instead of the Shah's extravagant opulence and waste.

Whether the rift is between people and establishment or between rivals within the establishment will be seen. 'We' have nothing to do with this.

Let us see what happens by the middle or the end of next week before the
final judgment is to be made. No radicals do not respect the Koran but at
the same time they do quote from it. Like the Irish Terrorists before, the IRA, they were the same. Attacking the people, setting off car bombs in the streets by detonating them by remote control or cellphone or even telephone from the street by ringing a phone number imbedded to make the blast. They don't believe in the Bible but once they quoted a passage of scripture that said, only the meek will inherit the earth. Meaning they are the meek and will inherit the earth by doing murder, destroying people's lives and livelyhoods because God told them to do it. What a laugh and lot of crap. The same thing goes for Amadinejad. The IRA are finished because they now have power sharing and democracy as it should be done in Iran. 21/6/2009.

Democracy is nothing but gang rule. You might want to read what our founders had to say about democracy. That is why the U.S. "officially" is not a democracy at all. Although the left wing and liberals would like to have it that way, or the rest of the world believe so.

Democracy is nothing more than gang rule, actually, and does eventually end up destroying itself. And the British countries are not truly democracies either. They are still monarchies, and the prime minister is head of the government, unlike American where the people and states actually have more authority than our President, Congress or federal governmet has. Huge difference.

Gee, all of them speaking in fluent English. Do you, by any chance, donate to the Israeli lobby? Doesn't Israel, and the U.S. have enough nuclear weapons to oblierate the world about 20 times over? I guess you also believe in gun control in this country, I'm sure. And in the inherent decency of mankind, and not the fact that it is actually inherent in our nature to be selfish and self-centered. Sort of like this inflamatory post.

Just how are all these Iranians that are interviewed on television and shouting so fluent in English, anyway?

And I do believe the Koran actually follows Old Testament law, by the way, which is Ten Commandment Law. In other words, stealing, adultery and those other "sins" carry the highest penalty. Death. The same as the orthodox Jewish faith still believes. Since they are also Old Testament based. And since they ARE a country with a state religion, just how much to you know about the Old Testament scriptures and the Koran?

No one is saying the Iranian people are stupid. They are very intelligent. They are doing what the American people would not do here. The difference between leaders is Khamenei wants pe4aceful nuclear power and equality with women as well as peace with America. Everything counter to the 1979 Revolution and Khamenei and Ahmadinejad!

I agree! We have to just pray for the people and watch. I heard one guy say this is the second Revolution to replace the first. They betrayed us and now we will do it right and Iran will be proud of us!

Iran will become free from dictatorships in the near future, and what the people want they will get. Their vote was not respected therefore Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Khamenei must both go. Look what happened in Iraq
over the weekend. Rebels detonated a car bomb in Saddar City, Baghdad. The Mosque that was bombed is the headquarters of Alsadr Moctada the rebel cleric, they are now turning out to kill him as they threatened to
do before. It is God's will for those things to happen because Jesus said
in the Bible, you see the temple, destroy it and I will rebuild it in three days after he drove the money changers out with a whip. He also said further on in Matthew 24 and elsewhere, there will be wars and rumors of wars everywhere, earthquakes in various places, father will be against his son but the end will not yet come. Jesus Christ's prophecies are all coming true without doubt. 22/6/2009.

Women want equal rights and they do not have it. The crowd at Khamenei's at the University threat alone showed that. They want jobs they want rights they want their country back. The theocracy in their words failed them!

The people in Iran can't defend themselves with weapons or attack the govt. like insurgents would. What else CAN they do to protect themselves and their families? All they can do is just sit at home unless they want to be killed by the ruthless police force and Revolutionary guards of Khamenei.
