Indian Security forces finally reclaimed the Lalgarh police station under control of Maoists on Saturday, who had cut off the area in West Midnapore district of West Bengal for last eight months.
An anti-landmine vehicle was used to clear the track for the security personnel who reached the police station to take charge of the building.
The BSF and CRPF Jawans donning bullet-proof vests cleared the five-km stretch of Jhitka jungle which has been under Maoist control for long time. The Maoists not only eliminated their opponents but used to hold parallel courts in this area where their word was taken as command.
The Lalgarh police station was out of bounds since November last year when tribal under the banner of People's Committee Against Police Atrocities launched a boycott of police to protest raids on their homes following a landmine blast targeting Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's convoy.
The clash between Maoists and security forces might continue for a long time in this region infested with landmines since they (Maoists) have developed a solid social base and several over-ground organizations.
