One of the unique of the Indonesian Democratic debate is each presidential candidate. ‘Do not ask anything’?
One of the unique of the Indonesian Democratic debate which cover live in private television company of Trans TV today, Thursday, June 18, 2009 is each Presidential candidates agree not to ask each other. All the candidates only remark their vision and mission their programmed.
‘’We ask to the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) to cancel their earlier programmed whose each candidates in session 3 can ask to other candidates about their programmed. KPU agree to change this programmed to the newly programmed that all candidates do not have a time to ask each other. We feel that this session 3 is not ethical and not suitable for the Indonesian culture,’’ said Burhanudin Napitupulu, members of JK-Wiranto presidential campaign team in Jakarta, today.
‘’We feel that the earlier debate whose each candidates have a time to ask other candidates will rise the tension who has already high in the recent weeks,’’ Napitulupu added. The earlier KPU debate programmed in the first session each candidates have a 7 – 10 minutes to remark their vision, mission and programmed. In the second session the moderator question to candidates about 30 minutes, and then the third session each candidates have a 30 minutes to ask each other about their programmed.
But, it is look like we, Indonesia are not ready yet to follow the United States democracy debate model. Maybe we needs more time to do that. So, we could not expect that this debate will run in entertainment way, just ceremonial debate, because before the debate begin, each candidates presidential campaign team has already has a lobby to KPU official, and they have a preparing print ask and answer on each candidates hands.
