The Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister said that his country could not accept to freeze the settlement process completely. His statement comes as an answer to Hilary Clinton’s call to stop construction on Palestinian land.
According to Mr. Lieberman, the Israeli administration has “some understandings with the previous administration, and we [will] try to keep this direction”.
The U.S Secretary of State said that there were no records of such an agreement.
Maybe Mr. Lieberman should be familiarized with something called THE ROAD MAP, but we all know the views and the political platform Mr. Lieberman is trying to follow. An important thing to keep in mind is that Avigdor Lieberman is himself a settler.
At the moment there are around 500,000 Jews living in more than 200 settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
The Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister considers the settlements process as something normal, natural that has to accommodate the needs and growth of the Jewish families, but according to the chief Palestinian negotiator, Saeb Erekat, 40 per cent of the built up areas of settlements are vacant.
