Recently, it has been reported that Shaquille O'Neal has challenged Hong Man Choi to an MMA fight, stating that he's found a flaw in the fighting style of the Korean kick-boxer... Choi, who recently took out former Baseball star Jose Canseco in just 77 seconds, is comparable in size at 7'2" and 330 Pounds... And with O'Neal being 7'1" and 325 pounds, it would be a colassal battle of giants... And an outstanding event to witness, but if it were to happen, I doubt it would be before O'Neal retires from Basketball... Age may also be something to consider, O'Neal being 37 and Choi only 28...

I would personally have to bet on O'Neal, if this bout became reality... Being an ex-police officer, along with a few years of MMA training, it would be a tough challenge for both fighters... Although I have not ever seen O'Neal in training, I have seen the fight between Canseco and Choi... And looking back at some of the 'close calls', where O'Neal almost lost his cool in a few NBA games, he would be the best match (being so close in size) for Choi... I distinctively remember one incident that involved former Indiana Pacer and Sacramento King, and now Chicago Bull, Brad Miller... Brad Miller was actually on the Bulls when the incident happened, and O'Neal being on the Lakers... A hard foul by Miller on O'Neal made Shaq livid, taking two swings at Miller, but fortunately not connecting... So I would give the advantage to O'Neal, for Agility, Fighting Style, and Strength... And only experience going to Choi...

What do you think though?? O'Neal or Choi?? All I know is it would be great entertainment, and get a lot of publicity/hype...

Shaq can't seem to stay out of the headlines. At least this time it's not a freestyle rap. That's one of the reasons I was going for the Lakers. I didn't want to hear Shaq on the mic again. It was terrible.

As far as this whole MMA thing is concerned, it looks like a pretty even match. I doubt it will happen though.

Nice! It will be a great event as far as basketball is concerned. It reminds me of Shaquille O'Neal who is trying to make splash in a new sport. Shaquille O'Neal, as if the basketball accolades weren't enough, has decided to throw his hat in the ring of MMA, or mixed martial arts, and he's already challenged a rough opponent. Hong Man Choi, a Korean kickboxer, who stands over 7 feet, who recently knocked out Jose Canseco, and Shaq believes that his own Shaq Fu (remember the video game?) will be able to compete with Choi. Many would give a cash advance to see it. Athletes from many sports are making entre into MMA, and it might be worth a payday loan to see what Shaquille O'Neal can do.

I wouldn't say "The Big Aristotle" is a former police officer. He has been sworn in as a "reserve" officer, received an "honorary" U.S. Deputy Marshall badge and was given an honorary Sheriff's Posse Badge. Earning a salary of $1.00/year to be considered a reserve officer and never actually arresting anyone or enforcing the law doesn't sell me. I'm also a little critical of you betting on Shaq for this fight. Sean Gannon was a real police officer, with a few years of MMA training, he fought someone relative to his size who had nowhere near the credentials of Hong Man Choi, and, if you know early MMA, you now what happened to Sean Gannon. Moreover, Hong Man Choi is a K-1 GP, Dynamite!, Pride and Dream veteran who has done quite well for himself, i.e. his fight with Semmy Schilt. Shaq isn't a wrestler, a BJJ specialist or even remotely close to world-class striker. If the fight happens, and it will only happen in Dream, I say Choi by KO or TKO, two minutes into round one.
