Club them if you cannot love them

This is really inhuman – reports say that in China more than 37,000 dogs have been clubbed to death to contain the spread of rabies. The deputy mayor of the city justifies the killings by saying that the number of dogs with rabies was too much to handle by normal means, hence the drastic step. This killing is over and above the usual practice of sterilization and is dome on dogs that are unattended – which means they have no rightful owner and are discovered wandering in the streets. Once the message spreads that unattended dogs are being clubbed to death, the actual owners would take care of their dogs and not let them loose. Keeping dogs as pets was not permitted in China till a few years back – the rules have now been relaxed but the owners have to follow the necessary rules on the subject.
