This Boat is Going Down, and the Season is Still Months Away

The Broncos are going to suck this approaching season. I promise you. I just read a very troubling story about Brandon Marshall here: http://www.9news.com/sports/pro_football/nfl/denver_broncos/article.aspx?storyid=117754&catid=72

The team did come up probably as good as possible by scoring Kyle Orton from the Bears in a move to shut up crybaby Jay Cutler, but now where to go without a Pro Bowl WR? Sure the team just picked up Brandon Lloyd, also from Chicago, and the guy has 15 TD receptions over 7 seasons. If you're into stats that means he's averaging just over 2 TD receptions per season. Not exactly a Pro Bowl canidate if you ask me.

I will admit that I was very excited when Shanahan finally got fired, but I did not anticipate this amount of fallout when Josh McDaniels took the reigns. I never thought Cutler would demand a trade, nor Marshall, or that I'd see Orton in my orange and blue over my uncles' in Chicago.

I forget who, but somebody once said that with free agency "You're no longer rooting for the players, you're rooting for the jersey," and that is being demonstrated to the 9's here in the Mile High. I can't remember the last time my confidence and optimism for the next Broncos' season was this low. McDaniels needs to finish at least at .500 this year or us Bronco fans will be calling for his head. Some already are.

At first I was calling for McDaniels head. I have calmed down a bit since the whole Cutler fiasco, but he is not gaining my trust yet. I still believe that the Broncos will finish above .500, but I doubt we will see any playoff action here in Denver for the next season or two. Sad times in Mile High...
