In the International Day of Blood Donation, the Palestinian Minister of Health Dr. Fathi Abu Mugli opened the National Blood Bank in Ramallah today.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Greek General Consul, the Representative of Ukraine to the Palestinian Authority, the president of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, and a number of Palestinian leaders.
The Manager of the National Blood Bank Dr. Muhammad Odeh stated that countries of the world define their health policies on the basis of stability, but we in Palestine define our health policies on the basis of emergency and a few of stability, pointing out that the opening of the National Blood Bank is a step toward the health independence in spite of the obstacles that we face.
The manager promised moving toward further producing some of the blood components , that are still imported from abroad.
The minister of Health said in his speech during the opening ceremony that the building of this institution is a contributing to the building of the institutions of the country that must be accomplished for building of our state, adding that the bidding of Palestinian People has never stopped , citing the large number of blood donors, even before the official opening of the national blood bank.
The President of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said during the celebration , that the establishment of the blood bank was our dream since the start of the Palestinian revolution, to support the struggles of the Palestinian people in time of the military conflict, during the successive uprisings.
For his Part the Greek Genera Consul Mr.l Sotirios Anathusi said that the Greek government supported the Opening of the Blood bank
